We got some more little things accomplished this past weekend, installed a new filler tube assembly, had to fiberglass the filler neck bucket since they are no longer available from GM, improved fire extinguisher bracket assembly, redid the radio communications and modified out filler jugs for a hoese filler and a larger vent tube for better flow. Down to the last few items before the race in a week and a half. Still need to bypass the radiator transmission cooler and just have the stand alone aux coolers only, drain the radiator and fill with water only since we cant run coolant or any water wetter either, I'm sure there's more as it get closer and closer to the race but for now all our major upgrades have been completed.

After this race we will be looking more into the dedicated 24 gallon fuel cell, still like to find a torsen diff that will help greatly putting the power down to both front tires coming out of the turns, and finaly installing the supercharger we been having sitting in the wings.

The diff will be a great upgrade. I'm still wary of the supercharger. More power is great but adding more moving parts is always a risk.

Just a few days away till we're off to Houston for the race. Leaving Friday, pre race vehicle inspections start Saturday morning, the Race begins at 3pm and will go for 24 hours non stop through the night till 3pm on Sunday. There is plenty to do and see at the event, we rented a garage stall under the main bleachers with plenty of room for any and all locals to come and hang out.
There will be plenty to do and see so if your interested either give me a call or txt @ #817-874-8707 or post up in here to let us know you'll be coming by. Thanks for checking us out and there will be pictures and race results after the weekend. Hope to see some of you there.

Well, it looks like I have to bail. I just got back from my second doctor visit this week. Apparently I have some nasty virus and am contagious (beyond the fact that I feel like crap). It's pouring at my house right now. I assume you guy are getting some rain at the track too. Have a good time.

If you see Wyatt from TGTW (the Jeeps) tell him Hi. He is a good guy and funny. I used to work with him.

    Good luck out there!

We managed to run the full 24 hours with some slight trans shifting issues but nothing bad, out of 105 cars we managed to finish in 15th place. Not bad but expected better, car handled very well with the modified suspension and felt much better than our previous setup. We managed to cover a total of 1256 miles total.

Now some updates!!! the engine that we ordered from Morad 8 races ago is getting a little tired, so another team mate and I went to a local Pick n Pull & pulled a L67 from a 02 GP with 131k miles. Plans are to totally strip it down to a bare block and rebuild with new bearings, ARP head studs, Main studs with cross cap bolts, X-P Hot cam along with titanium retainers and other valvetrain parts, will be personaly porting the heads myself and then send the heads to the machine shop for a valve job.
After engine repairs we'll be moving to the trans and go through it, all new seals, Sonnax billet 3rd clutch piston, just don't know what clutch packs to get just yet. I'll be documenting the whole engine build with pictures as things progress. hope to make the car into a rocket on the track to represent the Pontiac since peaple tend to dismiss its perfomance

Suspension mods are part of the $500 budget so as long as you don't exceed it you can do it. I picked up all 4 Bilstiens with Eibach lowering springs for $100 so besides converting them to coilovers it's what you can do within the budget

There out there!!! Never when you need it but when our not looking for things they tend to fall right in your lap. Some other bits we got in the past was a CTS-V steering wheel that will be machined and grafted to fit the splines in the steering column. But what we really need is a Torsen diff or some kind of limited slip diff to get better traction coming out of corners. The thought has been tossed around to somehow modify and install a Pontiac Aztek all-wheel-drive versatrac system to make it an real corner carver but that will be in the far future.

We tore into our junk yard engine this past Saturday and found some major problems...I always hear people telling others if there looking to rebuild there engine to just get another one and swap it in but you never know the true condition of what your getting. Found the #6 lifter roller portion cracked, damaged cam lobe, chipped #1 piston, damage to the cam bearings, scored crank journals and front timing cover g-rotor oil pump so very very glad we tore into it.
Thankfully we have a 30 day return policy from pick n pull so next Saturday we'll be returning the bad parts and looking for replacements to swap out for. There is lots of cleaning right now on all our parts we are keeping and making the parts list we will need for the upgraded components we want to install. So to all the people who want to rebuild there engines, I'd say do a cost analysis and always check and tear down the new engine you get, never know what you might find.
