Taking bolts off, sure. Putting them on, never. Unless it's a 2 foot long bolt, then once it gets close to the end then I'll finish it up by hand.

It could've damaged the studs, but I doubt it. I hand tightened them the hit them with a light torque setting.
I didn't want to forget to tighten them as I had the car up on jack stands.
I use an impact all the damn time. Throttle reasonably and then torque.. but I've used it to 100% torque too. Most guns won't abuse a lug stud.
PS.. mechanics do it all day long.. often w/o torque sticks
Those are the mechanics that don't touch my car, ever. This article helps describe it, but I've read more reasons than this:

you can be as anal as you want with your things. the rest of us will continue with our shortcuts that lead to world ending, catastrophic failures about 0.125% of the time.
but now that we figured that out, let's see what happens in this thread about his car (not yours).
We are talking about his car (not mine), or at least something he did or happened to his car, and our opinions about it. But we've discussed it so I agree. Get some ARP studs, repair everything else, and move on.
Oh please. Impacts don't snap studs unless you lay on it for 15 mins per lug. Lol.
Technically Boobas right. Just to be on the safe side I'd probably never do it again.

I had a shop fubar my studs once. Made them replace them when they broke after I couldn't get the lug off the stud. Never went back again.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA do you have a wife? was she driving? Do you have a 6 figure insurance plan on her? LMFAO! Sorry man my 3 wheelin experience went way worse than that! You got lucky!
My wife was driving mine when it happened on the way back to ND from Washington D.C. on new years. Car was left in Madison WI at the body shop for like 2.5 months before I got off active duty to go fetch it. LOL
Mine demolished the fender, wheel, hub, brake rotor, rocker panel. All that was replaced thank god I had full coverage and my wife didn't get hurt!
Hope you get it fixed damage doesn't look too bad. Just suspension work? Trash the wheel too?
Mine was 100% my own fault I was the last one to work on my car and just did the brake pads and rotors on it like a week before we left back to ND. So my car likely make it well over 1000 miles before the wheel finally snapped the studs off. I was very impressed my wife didn't put it into the guardrail when that happened!
God damn Wbodies!
Wreck Rebuild REPEAT! Its a motherfvcker of a vicious cycle isn't it!!!!
P.S. Want me to have my wife go open my garage take the car cover off and mail you the TQ stick I carry in the trunk now? LMFAO!!
Im overseas you can use it until I get home...........
Edit this pic of your car will be my screen saver for at least the next month........ I'll use it as a reminder.........
Yeah Tyler I'm not married and I'm not trying kill myself either. The only thing that really got damaged was the fender, then the bumper from towing. It probably would of gotten a lot more damage if it wasn't as low.... You can keep your damn torque stick lol.
EBH, I've had a broken axle before, I wasn't too worried about it. Until I saw my wheel rolling next too me, that is.
