I have a checkweigher system in the Ohio warehouse. Also have one in Atlanta. Fastenal is like buying from Grainger. They are expensive but they have it.
what grade SST bolts did you get? The cheapest ones I saw were $3 each for an 8X20mm hex head in 304 SST.

I don't know what grade lol. There was a rack that had black allen head bolts. Actually I got about a dozen for a little over six bucks, forgot I got some extras. All I know is it was WAY cheaper than sears. They look nice too.

Oh that's probably Black Oxide then they are much cheaper. SST usually comes in 3 grades 17-8, 304 and 316. 304 and 316 are the best for automotive use 316 series are usually about 2 times the price of 304 and about 5 times the price of black oxide. Black oxide is ok but will rust if exposed to any salt.

Good info, I'll have to see what available tomorrow. I don't plan on getting salt under the hood, but who knows.

We don't have salt down here, but when I go up north all I see is rotting cars. Looks like some Swiss cheese around the wheel wells and along door seals. I know down here we get sand everywhere if you get near the beach and just figured under the hood would be just horrible. My friend bout an 87 El Camino that was from Ohio and even the oil pan was rusting though, the frame was toast and his differential cover started leaking about the middle of half way up where it was rust. His core support was shot. So I don't know what you guys deal with as far as long term.

Just evading the inevitable for now. The inside of that support is pretty bad too. But at least the rust can only attack from one direction for now. Now just to fix the rockers, fenders, quarters, brake lines, fuel lines, djiduebsji.....

I have rocker rust out here, but thankfully nothing any farther north on the body. Looks a lot better Bandook, I'd talk crap about your welds but I can't weld, lolol.

On rusty metal even. I know I would probably suck on a nice tig too, but I think the odds are stacked pretty high against me considering what I'm working with lol.

Lol, I was just being facetious. I can weld anything but aluminum here at our shop. We don't have helium gas and using Argon doesn't look all that great and since most of what we do is either SST or mild I haven't learned to do Aluminum well. I can get it to stick and work but really need Helium to do it properly, also are supposed to use different Tungsten as well. I'm just self taught we started making systems and had outside vendors doing the frames and they looked horrible they were football shaped all warped and stuff. After about 6 months of complaining and saying I could do a better job my boss said to pick out a welder. I ordered a Miller Syncrowave 200 for 480VAC input, 27 amps vs 58 for a 230VAC unit, since I had to run the conduit and wire. Well I opened my big mouth and ended up being the welder for about 5 years, along with my other duties. Now we have 2 TIG, 2 MIG a Mill and a lathe and various and sundry metal working tools. The fun thing is I get to spec out and buy all the equipment!

Actually I am not bad at Flux core either, but I don't like holes in my shirts and burns on my arms lol.
This is actually part of a scale I designed and built, this was a prototype piece. I do a lot of the R&D, testing of programs and such but I'm the service manager. Started out here wiring PLC panels and stuff then started soldering cards for our controller, then just kept moving up. My bosses are the president and vice president of the company.

Just got back, had a good trip. Went to Fastenal and bought all the bolts except for the supercharger, they didn't have them all. I did get stainless though, so that's nice. I bought 20 washers, 2 M10x30s, and 6 M8x20s for just under $20. Says A2 stainless steel on the package. I'll get pics in a minute. I also picked up some window trim, coolant tank, and 6 or 7 relays at the JY. Everything including the bolts was less than $50 so that's not too bad.

Sweet, A2 is like 18-8 which is pretty much the same as 304 iirc. So they should be chiny like the other ones. Man if you need a bracket made or something just send me a sketch. I'll see what I can do for you.
there is a place called Metal Supermarket and I buy small pieces from them if I don't have it in stock. Mostly aluminum for jigs and stuff. They have locations all over the U.S. They have no minimums. I've bought 3/4"X4"X18" the other day I think it was $30, but they had to buy a whole stick. I have another company that used to let me buy scrap by the pound and I walked out with a dolly full of $80 worth of assorted Aluminum still have a lot of it. So it's finally going to come in handy. Now I can say see that storage is paying off!

Aluminum cross braces would be pretty freakin awesome. I know Don Rome makes them, I've been thinking about them for awhile, they're $75. As far as the headers they have to be pulled and welded and all that. The SSAC (Speed Daddy) headers have the flex pipe on the rear header, then the V band so the front of the down pipe hangs pretty low under the car. The fix is to move (and replace) the flex pipe down to where the cat would be (or in front of the cat if you still have one) and revamp the rear header-to down pipe transition. Let me find some pics...

Wife went off to the Mother-in-Law's for dinner with my daughter so Danny (my son) and I worked on a few things together. A friend of mine needed a headlight for his '03 Bonneville, so today I tagged along to the JY and such. I figured since he paid for gas I would polish the headlight up for him. Not brand new, but a LOT better:
Here's the bolts, ironically the 2 bolts on the core support are the same thread as the bolts you sent me, Jeff. You only need 2 M10x30's and washers. And Bandook, same for you with the supercharger bolts.
Window trim pieces polished up and waxed pretty good, really. I like them.
