L67 is the "Series II" Supercharged 3800 Series that was in production from 97-03. L32 is the "Series III" Supercharged 3800 Series that was in production for the remainder of the 3800's life. They had the same block, but the heads were slightly different, not by much, I think the intake valve on the L32 is slightly bigger (1.83" vs. 1.8" IIRC). The L32 also had forged connecting rods and moly-coated pistons, so they are a bit more durable and can take some more abuse. While those 2 reasons are an upgrade, it's not the main reason people swap L32s in. The major benefit is the Gen V supercharger, which is leaps and bounds ahead of the L67's Gen III supercharger. The Gen V has a cooler outlet charge (air coming out of the supercharger is cooler when it enters the engine itself, the outlet is bigger (allowing for more air to enter the engine), the Teflon coating on the rotors is 100x more durable, along with a few other minor upgrades. With all the benefits from the supercharger, running a pulley that is the same size on a Gen V is equivalent to a .2" pulley drop on the Gen V (3.6" on a Gen III = 3.8" on a Gen V). From what I have read, no one has really got any benefits from porting a Gen V either.
As far as my car, the engine is finally running GREAT. I still have a slight vacuum leak from the supercharger gasket, but that's a risk I was willing to take (read a few pages back). Other than that, my fuel rail is leaking where the gas line connects so I have to figure out how to reseal that.
Any ideas?
