Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
Finally stopped by the school to get some output shots of the retros. The seem to fall off on the outsides of the cut off. It's straight where it counts though, so I'm not worried about it. The parking lot is the closest to level around here, but that's not saying much from what you can see...

At home, it's a slight down hill, and without the lights on it's pitch black:

My first retro, what do you guys think?

They look good, the hotspots seem a little off but not to much, way better than stock aren't they? Bad thing is you get used to them and them you want more..... . I just raised mine up a little but i think i have them up too much. I'll find out in the morning as I'm blinding traffic.

What are the hot spots? Can they be adjusted if I decide to at some point?

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
Looks a little crooked, but they only have so much play, they may not be seating in far enough or not back far enough, there is a sweet spot for the bulbs to sit to maximize output. Play with it, with the bulb loose and just move it in and out (the old in out HAHA...cause a Clockwork orange..and your orange RTV...yeah I'm funny what of it), see if it gets better or worse.
These are H1's? Not a lot of bulb choices, if they were d2s there would be a greater choice, I know some of the Morimoto bulbs can be crap sometimes (not all the time, just 5% are known to be bad)

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
They do seem a little weak but that could also be the exposure settings with the camera
Your camera is
Sony DSC-W650
F/2.6
1/8 sec exposure
ISO 400
This is a Canon PowerShot SD780
f/3.2
1/20 sec exposure
ISO320
Meaning yours are definitely a little weaker

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
It's the full Morimoto kit from TRS. When this bulb is installed it seems I can move them a bit, so I'll try that. It also looks like I can see the bulb a bit form the outside, is that okay?

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
The orange cutoff line bothers me (it should be more blue/purple). Are these brand new Morimoto H1s, version 6 or whatever they are up to? These almost output like B-stock projectors from them, so something isn't 100%. I might say shoot them a message, they are great with customer service at TRS...if that is where you bought this stuff from.

You mean stray light fragments, yeah that happens, shrouds sometimes help block that.

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
It was all brand new from TRS. I mean I can see the glass from the outside, you can kind of see it in the second pic. It's the newest revision of the projectors.

Here's the output shot from when I was building them...

I know this is there older bulb style but it should be straight.

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
I would shoot TRS and email with the output pics and the back side with the bulb, see what they say. They will have way more technical help than I could ever be.

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
The orange cutoff line is usually a sign when something is a bit off, this is the color the old days of projectors use to output, they are all now tuned to output a blue/purple line from the get-go. You output cutoff line orange to red/purple looks like the output of the b-stock projectors (just projectors that haven't been tuned or have other issues), not saying that is what you got, but it something isn't quiet 100%

Chatting with them now, we'll see how it goes.
