We will for sure. It'd be cool to finally meet up, and yea, see the vette, lol.

Turns out I was wrong, the clunk is fixed, yay. There is still some valve noise under some heavy load, almost sounds like an exhaust leak, but not quite. I figure if it doesn't go away in the next week or so I might pull the VCs off again and do some "massaging" It's NOTHING like it was at first, so it might just wear itself away.

What did you torque the rockers to?

If you ended up using reusable rocker bolts, I found that a drop of Loctite helps. Many people back when had issues with them backing out or loosing up just like settling exhaust bolts. I'd also go back through and re tighten all your header bolts and any downpipe/catback ones as well. Might find one that isn't as snug as the other after it running. Could also be gaskets if you didn't use OEM metal ones.

I ended up using Felpros, for the time being. I'll have to go through and check the header bolts. I used Antiseize on everything so if something ends up needing changed, I should be able to do it "relatively" easily.

I've got PRJ bolts, torqued to 30 ft pounds, I checked them first thing this last time I pulled it apart and they were still at 30. I had only valve that was .009" shorter (tip height) on the rear head, so I'm wondering if that isn't the tick, or possibly an exhaust leak. Of course, it could always be this craptacular SD flexpipe.

I was always told rockers should be 25 or 26ft. lbs. Maybe things have changed?

I deleted the flex on all my headers.

Ran solid mounts. The rubber exhaust hangers moved enough that nothing broke...granted the engine never moved with poly uppers and poly lowers lol

That's the plan, possibly while we're out in AZ. My buddy is a pretty good welder and what not, and the exhaust is one of the biggest things I'm ashamed of on the car, lol. I had originally planned to move the flex down to the DP (around where the factory cat was), but I may just get rid of it.

I do need to get more solid mounts.

Oh yea, with a 3 and 6 year old in the back seat. I get off work at 7:30AM, take a shower while Janelle packs up the car, and we're off. Should be interesting, to say the least.

Dropped the transmission pan today, once I picked it up I was pleasantly surprised. It was pretty clean.

I bought some new N52 magnets and stuck them in the pan. I already had the 2 small thicker magnets in there before.

Now to check header torque, make sure the dipstick it tight, and reassemble!

About 50 miles East of Springfield. 1293 miles according to the Google. I remember it being nearly 1400 or something of the sort.

Finally got around to checking the A\C, and it seems good. We couldn't get the high pressure side to go on far enough to lock, so we only had to go off of low, which was 40 PSI. I figured it was fine, everything got nice and cold...I just want to double check because Phoenix is around 120*F right now...lol. I also did some rewiring on the backup camera. Plan is to install a push button to trigger the reverse camera while driving, so I can see what's behind me, that way when I install the oil slick I can double check the target. I installed a diode on the trigger wire for the reverse camera (back-up lights), mainly because if I hadn't, the back-up lights would turn on when I pushed the button. I had to change the power source for the camera itself, which originally was the back-up lights. Now I have it powered by the head unit's remote wire, the same one for the amps. I just have to figure out where exactly I want to install the switch, and FINALLY finish up the dash bezel. Then get it aligned\rotate tires\install camber bolts, one final check of fluids, and it should be ready for the 1400 mile trip...

AZ trip came and went. Everything went relatively well. I made the mistake of thinking that I would be able to find new tires easier in the big city, nope. It took Big-O tire a full day to get the right sized tires, then one went flat on the way home...in 112* weather...after they closed on 7\3. So I was on a donut until 7\5. Yay. Then they said they would only replace the tire if I got their stupid warranty, and took another full day to get another tire. 2 days gone on a 5 day trip, yay. THEN on the way up to visit my mom, the fuel pump died and left us on the side of the road in 110*F weather for 2 hours. $220 later, I was up and running again. That last part sucked, but at least it was close to someone, no in the middle of BFE New Mexico.

Other than that stuff, the car did good. Going up to Flagstaff on the way home I had to pull over and let the transmission cool, but it was 105*F out, and I just climbed 3,500 ft in elevation at 75+ MPH, it had an excuse to be hot. If I was going to live there again (yea, right), I'd bypass the radiator portion of the transmission cooler. She pulled 29.3 MPG on the way there, and 27.6 MPG on the way home. We have pics, but I don't know how many of them have the car in it.

Oh, and this trip officially got my up to 20k on the car since we got it...4.5 years ago, lol. Anyways, now that the trip is done and over with, fun stuff starts happening to the car again, YAY.

It wasn't THAT bad, the kids were good for the most part. I drove all but 2 hours on the way there, and the entire way back. The car still seems to have a bit of a rough idle, but I'll investigate that later. I'm taking a week or 2 to just get back in the swing of things. That 2 months of 64+ hour weeks while working on the car everyday (and weekend) was pretty brutal.
