Traded my 2005 Suzuki Boulevard C50 today for a 2002 GTP for my soon to be 16 yr old sons first car.

The car is pretty good shape but has a few slight issues that I have found so far. More as we go Im sure.

    1. HUD not working. Be nice to know where the fuse is located.
    2. There was no FOB with the car. Only one set of ignition and trunk key. Was all GTP's built with keyless entry standard? If so can I get a replacement?
    3. TCS Off light is on. Pushed the button beside the light and nothing happened. The light is still on. How do you fix that?
    4. Dry rotted tires. Any recommendations for good traction and long miles/ good MPG?
    5. Passenger side mirror is broken (hit on side of garage, women drivers lol) he gave me a new replacement but it is black and car is red ggrrrrr
    6. Low coolant light is on. I looked for coolant on the block/LIM area and only saw some old oil. Plan to do a flush and refill
    7. Shows 26% on oil so I plan to do an oil and filter change. Also plan to add some sea foam as I looked into oil filler and saw dark brown build up all over valve springs. He said he used Penzoil High Mileage oil. Any recommendations on good oil to use? I also plan to change SC oil as well.
    8. Filmed over head light ggrrrr. Can I not get away from this as 3 of 3 cars have this problem. Will replace eventually.
    9. If I turn key off and open the door with keys in hand the buzzer sounds. No lights on and keys are not in ignition. Only happens when drivers door is opened? This is a new one for me.
    10. There is an air leak in the top left corner of windshield. Not cracks or obvious damage. Get louder the faster you go. I think it has a bad seal?
    11. Owner said they always burned 87 oct. only. gggrrrr
    12. Bottoms out on a hard bump easily. Needs new shocks and struts.

More as I learn. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. I am new to Pontiacs.

    fobs and new keys, ebay.

the coolant light, remove the sensor in the rad and clean it.. the oil, is not oil, its dex sludge. flush it, and replace with green antifreeze.

the gas, run only 91 or higher octane.

oil changes, just change it every 3,000 miles with what ever's on sale. thats what i do, and my engine was darker, now its getting cleaner looking. all that dark looking rocker and springs means is the last owner failed to take care of it. lack of oil changes.

the mirror. is the glass broken as well as the housing? if its just the glass, you can pop the glass out and swap it, on the inside of the car door behind the trim is 3 nuts that hold the mirror on.

the trac light, jack up the car one wheel at a time, and push and pull the tire at the top, firmly, you looking for any play, if you find one with play that could be your problem, also check the hubs are plugged in, and the wires are not broken or cut or damaged.

and you'll want to check the lim gaskets to see if they have been upgraded, you look between the head and lim. if you see a black gasket you should do the lim gaskets asap. if you see silver, your all set with new up graded metal gaskets. this is a 100 in parts job if you do it your self. its fairly easy to do. kids need to learn how to fix their own cars too, good little project.

also tune ups, use ac iridium spark plugs gapped at 55 to 60. not platinum plugs. these engines dont like them at all.

i drive a regal so the rest is more for the GP owners to help out with. good luck with it. you got some maintenance to get done.

search the how to section, lots of what you need to do is in there.

No need to replace headlamps. Just resurface them. 3M makes a great kit. Search headlamps on here...there a some great write-ups on it
