I know it's very common, my red gtp did it as well but I would like to get rid of it, and I run synthetic Mobil 1 10w-30 oil and what would be best bet? What about tightening the lifter?

I use 20-50 in my l26. I don't get lifter noise until my oil is spent around 80% on the dashboard neater. But Lucas stableizer is good too

It's about that time boys.. Took the GP to my mechanic to get a power steering leak diagnosis and I come to find out it needs a new rack and return like and they want $700 to rebuild it their selves and if I was to buy a rack, they would still charge 500 for installation with discounts, so I've out enough money into the GP generation vehicles and it's time to part her out or sell. Sad day

Sell it then buy another car that will probably have problems... Sounds reasonable.

Do the work yourself and fix it plus your going to have a hell of a time selling a car that has issues!

    This.

I had a little trouble selling my 1st gtp because of the rack n pinion failing in that car along with bad hubs fix it and ride it till the wheels fall off

Say if I was going to buy your car.. Let's say you were asking $5k or something. First thing I'm going to do is find everything that's wrong with it and immediately deduct it from your asking price. Of course I have a general knowledge of what I can replace with brand new parts and what parts I'll get at the JY instead but you sure as hell won't know what I'm going to pay so I'm going to take top dollar off like if I was having the dealer do the work and all you can say is no and let that buyer walk or pull the ad and fix it yourself and try again.

Just food for thought but for what your going to end up selling your car for then turn around and buy another car chances are it's going to need some work. Unless your willing to spend more that what you sold yours for there's that chance. Don't let repairs scare you away from your car there's a reason why cars require maintenance. Lucky for us our parts are rather cheap compared to other car so keep that in mind. You think our parts are expensive take a look at just about every other car.. Excludes obviously cars like Hondas.

I understand that but I don't trust the car to keep putting work into it, I do want a 08 truck.. With the same engine as my dads, so that is more of a guaremtee to have good luck than buying another gtp, 5.3 silverado z71 is what I want and it's what my dad has and the engines in those are solid and run forever, Same with the trans, the repairs of the gtp don't scare me away, it's the price and the consecutive problems it has

They burn oil too and you'll also get worse mpg I went from a truck to my gp I went from 12 city to 26 city all take it all day everyday. Plus you have a nice car and think of doing the rack of a day with no bull**** from others and a couple beers and get her done

I get about 18 or so city. A truck is cool and useful and everything but you'll get tired of driving one after awhile and wish you had a car.
