Believe it or not, that's the second time around for the VHT. I wet sanded up to 3000 grit, denatured alcohol, and sprayed it. It happened like that both times. I decided to leave it until I can find a new (NOS) light and try it again. Not sure what else to do. My only thought is that the tint didnt like the plastic and pulled. There is no clear on it. It pulled like that as soon as I sprayed it both times. I'm thinking oxidation?

Spray brake clean on it to get rid of old, or gas if that doesn't cut it. Sand smooth with 2000 then wash with dawn and rinse clean. Of course let dry then start with a light(very light) coat to tack it. wait 30 minutes and a little heavier coat,,wait 30 minutes,,then final full coat(not too heavy).....let completely dry and wet sand to even and smooth. Rinse clean and dry(long time). Same steps for clear coat except finish with 2500 or 3000 and polish, like Meguiars ultimate polish. Not Turtle wax stuff.

The pulling is crazing usually meaning there is oil present,,,could have been the denatured alcohol

i didn't sand it or anything.. look at my sig for my members link. but i just used Clorox wipes and wiped it down really good and used a scotch bright pad and went over it a little bit to get any stuff off of it. and then sprayed 1-2 coats on it i think. wasn't much work at all. my buddy is really good at doing nite-shade. he did my tails awhile back but now the shade is disappearing so i'm gonna be clear coating them and stuff sometime.

denatured shouldn't have any oil in it.. it'll evaporate.

here. this is what i'm gonna be following for my tails.. its a great how to.

My fog lights were cracking when I tried to tint them. To fix it, I took the VHT off, sanded the the plastic, then clear coated them and spray VHT on top of the clear coat, then clear coated over the VHT.

That's pretty much what I did.

That's not a bad idea. I have a clear that I have been using that I am pretty happy with. Its a ceramic based wheel coat that really seems pretty strong. Think I will have to give it a shot.
