Hahahaha I know enough about modding one
What vehicles came with a factory 12 bolt rear end anyway? I've never looked much into that. If this one breaks again I will see about getting one of those. I don't want to get into that now I just cammed the car, bought HP tuners and it still needs a few repairs. I can't afford a bigger rear now.

Repairs BEFORE mods man..
12 bolts aren't that great, go with a 9" at least. But at that point, you might as well go with a strange dana s60 and never have to worry about it.
9" FTW. I've never broken mine, and that's sayin' something. LOL
Oh, and S60s suck. Track fail.
Just because they're a little heavier?
I wouldn't want a whiny rear end just to save a little weight going with a 9".
Get a 9" you'll just break the 12 bolt
i hate fords, but the ford 9 inch rear is one of the best rears you can drop in a car with HP.
then again, my brothers 600 hp chevelle had a built 12 bolt gm rear, full posi carrier unit with 4.11 gears. it took a good beating. and he sold it when he crashed the car, so it still worked.
I thought the rear ends out of late model fords were an 8.8"? And it's a good amount of work to make those work and get the right bolt pattern rim in the back
I believe the 9" is from older cars, it's just the design though, the fbody 9" doesn't necessarily originate from fords.
But he'd probably break a built 12 bolt
my brother had 600 hp if not more on a 12 bolt rear. and he drag raced it with slicks, no failures. a full posi is a must. this was in a full curb weight 72 chevelle. not a light car at all.
back in the 80's that ran 600 or more iirc for the posi with the 4.11 gears, and the cost of a rebuilds labor at the shop. dont know what parts cost today tho. maybe more, maybe less.?
at the end of the day, the 10 bolt sucks a dick, and the 12 will hold up to his hp, im sure hes no where near 600 hp.
They sell bolt in 9" rears for fbody's.
For the money you're spending on the 12 bolt, you might as well go big or go home and get the s60.
New school vs old school.
"Must prevent any possible failures and waste money."
vs
"Lets see if we can break it." Alternatively: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Take this next post seriously.
He might just have some experience going fast.
I read up on rear ends for a while (before I decided to sell the car) and I know the quirks of each. 9" just tends to whine a little even if you don't beat on it, while the s60 is heavier but won't whine.
They're both proven rear ends (and both cost around the same), I just prefer the s60.
It would have to be something that came in another car from factory. I can't have a full rear end shipped from the US. I'm not making that much HP up here. We are at 5000ft, my best guess is that it would be around 300 rwhp if I'm lucky. I never have used and I don't plan to use slicks so maybe I don't necessarily have to go for the absolute best.
Well plan to fab some stuff, otherwise 10 bolt is your only factory option. There's an 8.5 factory 10 bolt but that's basically just as useless as your 7.5.
