Just take out one of the gold ones and get a handfull like that,I can't remember how many I used. You just have to really get enough in to make it secure.

There is is just one or two mystery screws you can feel but not really see up towards the firewall. I used a couple extensions and a universal adaptor on a 1/4" socket set. The size is 7/32 I think? You really have to approach it from both sides to get the screws out, once its loose, push and manipulate it towards driver side and it will slide out of the duct joint.

X2, I hear ya there, same way I was thinking when I hit it. Of all the different threads I read, I made note of the 'slide it out towards the drivers side' and it popped out of the duct with the right angle applied. You'll see it when you're down there. Putting it back in was a little more what the hell? I did the reverse and figured if I fubar I can always foil tape it or whatever, but eventually it went in. The duct plastic isn't all that brittle so you will have some wiggle room.

Today is heater core day! weeee...not....

ok i started off by trying to take a bunch of pics of the process, but its next to impossible...i got this far with the pics

So anyways i smashed and banged and swore my way int there, got first cover off.. why 2 covers Gm? why plastic stakes? WHY WHY WHY?

broke 1 tab on that one...

then came the 2 cover... that one kinda broke a little more than anticipated.

    (photo coming later)

    Core came out

    it pee'd in the snow

and i think i foudn my leak point

Right now its break time to rest my spine and eat a sammich.. then back at her!

fun times! i love the interior of the newer GPs wish i could retrofit. 97-03 is so cheap and flimsy, and the front seats are hard and uncomfortable
