this is pretty much the car that your dad tells you about when your like 12 years old. you know, how he bought it when he was young, and it didn't have this, this, that, or anything really. but it was fast, loud, and your grandmother hated it. it alwas ends with "i never should have bought that." but it makes for good stories, right? anyways, here's the toy/project/POS known as arf. why arf? because there's an ARP sticker under the hood with part of the P ripped off so it look like an F. and it likes to chirp tires

it's got a 350ci chevy smallblock out of something pre-1977, the only way i know is that the oil dipstick is on the driver's side of the engine bay. edelbrock 650 quadrajet carb, and i was told a th-350 trans. i'm wondering if it really is because the th350 only has three forward gears, and i feel 4. it has a tranny cooler, B&M shifter and shift kit. it snaps into second realllllyyyyy hard

those are hedman headers that look like they came out of a junkyard lol. they're running to flowmasters and dump before the rear axle. the rear end has been replaced with a limited slip differential of some sort, possibly a camaro?

there's my 3800 block in the background

it was also either leaking or out of every fluid that goes in it. currently its parked in the barn with the oil pan dropped so i can replace that gasket. lucas stop leak seemed to work with the trans pretty well. just replaced the belts because the power steering one broke, and there is still a leak in the gasket between the upper radiator hose and the intake that's pouring coolant everywhere.

what doesn't work/isn't there anymore: gas gauge (been replaced with a fuel cell), speedometer, radio, interior lights of any sort, heater (core is gone), horn, coolant reservoir, windsheild washer reservoir, and pretty much anything else you can think of that doesn't help the truck go forward.

plans for this spring: a nice coat of primer because i hate the blue, and i mean i'm gonna do it as legit as possible to make it look good, with some lime green detailing. drop it to the weeds, 5 in the front, 6 in the back or something like that. smaller wheels, maybe some 15in vette rallys, with something wide on the back. 265's? and i want the exaust to be coming out in front of the back tires, corvette style. if i have any money left after that, i'll look into some go-fast parts. i might spray it haha

Awesome. We have a few good people that know their 350 converted S-series trucks...with less/no bashing, like other s-series forums out there.

when you go to drop it be prepared to notch it. if you dont its gonna ride horrible, and after you notch it you might run into a problem of the shaft hitting the cab under hard acceleration.

x2, details please. are you talking like the driveshaft up underneath the cab? that's probably a stupid question, but just to clarify lol. how did you lower yours?

Mines dropped 5/6 with spindles and coils up front and leafs and blocks out back. Im extended cab and after i notched the frame my driveshaft would hit my gas tank x member under hard acceleration. Another thing is that my leafs were old and started to sag which is another reason why I had this issue. Your standard cab so it MIGHT hit the cab floor. I know when people bag standard cabs they have to tunnel the cab floor for the driveshaft, but you might be safe because your not going as low as they do and you will have new leafs.

Another thing you might have an issue with is fitting wider tires. Heres a link to a fitment chart. New Updated Rim/Tire Fitment For S Trucks | Chevrolet S-10 Forum - The Largest Chevy S-Series enthusiast site : s10forum.com

I did 2 inch drop spindles with 3 inch drop control arms. Cut a coil of my drag spring and netted a 3 inch drop in the fornt with a 1 inch drop caltrac spring. i would say blokcs are a bad way to lower cuz personally I think they are, but Hal has had great luck racing with blocks. I also wonder what your pinion angle, u joints and transmount looked like if it hit the underside of your truck.

haha i can't imagine an LS in that truck. i can't keep the tires hooked now, even with traction bars.

i'll be trolling and most likely registering on those sites. i read somewhere that you can do blocks and shocks in the back with factory leafs? and i'll have to get under it and look for clearance, the gas tank has been replaced with a fuel cell mounted under the very back of the bed, i might not have the crossmember

Theres nothing wrong with using 2inch or 3inch blocks. People use them all the time with no issues. As for as my drive line my pinion angle was slightly off but it was because of the old leafs were sagging. Everything else in my drive line was in perfect working order. The only reason the shaft hit was because the truck was so low.
