As many know I had a 03 cobra once upon a time. I made many, many friends on here because of my antics lol. I sold it because I wanted something "fast" (at least to me).

So here is my new build up, it'll be slow but it will get finished. I'll add pics everytime I do some work. All comments and suggestions are welcome. Critique away.

Originally this was a 4 cylinder 5 speed car.

At this point its just a rolling chassis. No motor/trans.
    Has a 8.8 with a 4:10 posi tho.

Day I bought it. Looks better in pics than in person I assure you.

If 27 is old to you, then yeah another old guy got one. lol
It's a proven platform, and about as cheap as they get. Since I'm poor it suits me just fine.

    Yeah the 2.3 isn't exactly a 2JZ.

I bought a "used" tubular k-member, said it was for a modular fox conversion, kind of looks like sbf motor mounts to me.

Hoping at this point to do modular motor but I'm not at all against stroked windsor.

Either way its going to be a big(ish) single turbo setup. No less than 76mm. If I do go windsor it'd be safe to say 88mm or so.

    Anywho... Here some "progress" pics.

About 95% rust free, not bad for 20 year old michigan beater. That last pic is seriously the only real spot I have to deal with. Other than the 15,000 dents that is. I do have 80% of the interior. We'll get to that down the road.

How much do you think I have into this so far?
Look at it this way, saving a modern classic from the scrapyard.

Cut the old subframe connectors off. Going to go with through the floor subframe connectors.

    Note the awesome welds.

When cutting these pieces off I managed to cut up part of the subframe in one spot. Nothing a welder can't fix though.

i don't know the guy, but will safely assume he did not pay a grand for the rolling chassis.

    97 GT - slow, rusty
93 CTD - more slow, less rust

    Actually pretty close but no.

I already know before the time actually comes I'm going to be bouncing around badly on the engine setup but whats your guys' opinion of a 2jz swap?

What? Don't think it'd be cool in my other POS?

Anyways I made a bit of progress on her today. Backwards albeit, but progress nontheless. Hard to find time to work on this in an unheated garage with a 20 month old.

Pics don't do that monstrosity of a wiring harness justice. It was a beotch to get out of there.

Oh and that 3/4 full tank of windshield washer fluid is mostly on my floor. Working on slippery floors ftl.

I'd put a motor and transmission in it...and bolt a milk crate to the interior to sit on.

    Done.

Power to weight? Think it'd pass inspection? lol

It's funny how that a 20 minute job on a car turns into a hour and half ordeal when you're dealing with a 20 year old rust bucket. Got other fender, liner and sway bar removed.

Hoping to start cage next weekend. We will see.

Forgot to take my camera out of my jacket pocket while doing this. Broke the screen on my camera. Awesome.

Looking good. Good thing manual racks are cheap. I don't dig the welds on the sub fram but hey if ya use some POR 15 it will hide that real nice. I'd cut off the sway bar mounts and do boxes in the rear... Looks like a good jumping off point for debt bud.
