Re: Spartan GL's Build Thread: (5-1-2012) PG 37 for ENGINE/TRANS Dropped in
1. Most of it changes how you want to install it.
Best thing I can tell you is the pump is gravity primed. Keep that in mind when mounting it.
2. Pump should have come with instructions on how to wire. Typically add a relay which is triggered by the fuel pump relay. You'll keep the same routing but use a 1" shorter belt IIRC.
3. RTV or this unicorn bill talks about: Permatex 26B
When removing, spray down with carb cleaner and let it soak in. That'll break it down so you don't damage anything trying to get it apart. The carb cleaner applies to RTV, have never tried 26B.
4. Heater hose. That clear stuff isn't designed for coolant and the heat. Heater hose is. Be careful when routing so that it doesnt rub. If need be you can use wire loom to protect it.

Couple of notes if you ever pull/install again and or for others.
1. I'd have the VC's on to keep any dirt out, plus it's easier on a stand/out of the car
2. Install the starter before you put the engine in along with it's plastic inspection shields etc.
3. I forget if the AC bracket was on, but I'd have put it on before drop in for the ac or pulley.
4. Remove the two 15mm bolts on the master cylinder and it'll swing out of the way. On a drivetrain install like yours..it gives you a bunch more room.
5. Thumbs up on connecting the headers while it was still partially up. I do the same
6. I'd do the ps pump at the same time.. with it almost in the cradle.
7. Install the oil level sensor, front knock sensor, starter wiring and grounds from above before putting on the front header.
8. Understand on teh trans tube. Much easier before dropping motor in or putting on headers. But it's possible.
9. I'd put the trans selector lever and range switch (if needed externally) on before dropping in. Can be done in car too.
On the WP, did you get the wiring harness for it? If so, it's quick easy done.

Imagine the Bonneville engine mount bracket isn't there.

You won't have the same disstance between the power steering pump and the crank. I used a 2000-2005 Bonneville ps pump bracket. It is literally a simple bracket that puts the ps pump 1-1.5" inches back.
IC: I use two rolls of the gray rubberish gasket paper that sells for $5 a roll at the parts store. Then I get a tube of permatex 26B off the goop aisle and that's it. Make the gaskets to spec with a ball peen hammer like old timers used to. Put a line of 26B around all pressure/vacuum openings (pcv, boost bypass hole, LIM opening), put your first gasket down, another line of 26B on top of it, the IC, line of 26B, gasket, line of 26B and SC.
I apparently didnt do the pcv holes

When running hoses through the body and possible sharp metal areas where it could rub. I use a larger sized hose to keep the hose from rubbing/punturing. A zip tie on either side keeps it in place.

Feel free to browse my photobucket account
ID: BillBoost37
pswd: Boosted (B must be cap)
Albums
-Heads and rockers
-Supercharger\Intercooler plan
-Water pump\Meziere
Things to keep in mind when browsing. My IC core hung down into the LIM and therfore my Lim opening isn't the normal size/shape.
My car was a bonneville
I drilled/tapped a hole in my front head to be able to consider a dog bone mount if I ever desired it.
I often installed many other things at the same time.
Overall you are flying right along and it'll be done soon.

Yeah..
1. Bolt down do next item. You can't be serious about needing a write up on the fuel rails. I put the snout end hose under the snout and the TB end over the charger. Bolted to one of the PCV bolts.

Garleaks.
Better buy new ones before you start your car and wonder why it won't run.

Matt and I already explained the 26B no leak BillBoost proven system of IC'ing an engine. If he chooses to go with Garleaks, then we get to laugh at him in a couple more pages.
