Ok, definitely forgot about this thread. Rereading myself from 2 years ago is really weird. I was such a novice back then...
Since the last post I replaced the front crank seal, installed a subwoofer, and got remote start installed at Best Buy.
Also bought 3 broke down cars to teach myself mechanics (91 Firebird, 96 Jetta, 92 Ford Ranger), sold 2 of them (Firebird and Jetta), and totaled my GP.
I've become the go-to mechanic for several of my mom's old lady friends. Kinda fun seeing how little I used to know so short ago.
Looking to replace my Pontiac soon, hoping to another w body.

@eeyan it seems you know yourself around cars pretty well. Can you recommend me a good subwoofer?

Sorry for being off topic. I'm looking for a good sub for my ride and can't wrap my head around which would suit me best.

Do I need to spend over $1000 to get some decent sound? I've been reading the reviews all over the internet and I didn't get closer to finding a solution. Plus most reviews are hype. Blatant copy of manufacturer's features that's it. Now I've found a different site which writes more on our language. Still there are 10 subs on the page and it's hard to choose. This review site is different. What I loved about the reviews were that he highlights many negatives. Best of all they are not watered down.

What are the most important things when you're looking for a sub? Any tips?

Lol is this an ad or something?
Sorry bro, I appreciate a good quality sound, however, you're asking the wrong guy. I tend to just pick a price point and compare specs in that range. I don't have any good suggestions for you other than that.
Looks like you know as much as I do in that department.

In all honesty, I have never had a complaint about JL Audio. A little pricey, but the last sub I had is still in the car with the new owner, and I bought it new in 2007. Still hits the lows like it should. I believe it was a 10W3.
