Hi Everyone, I just purchased my second Grand Prix. It is a 2004 Comp G , never driven in the winter and only has 33,000 miles. I plan on making a few changes to the car but nothing to crazy? Perhaps the help of my fellow Grand Prix 'ers perhaps come up with some additional ideas. Right off the bat I really wanted to get the car painted to a metallic midnight blue. I've done a little homework on it and to get a paint job done correctly and appears you're looking at roughly 5 to $7000. There is a larger pill that I anticipated swallowing. I am also torn what to do with the front license plate. I just ordered the OEM front bracket but I'm not thrilled about drilling holes into the bumper. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences with that on the 04 Grand Prix's?

I look forward to chatting and getting to know you. Happy Sunday

It is getting shipped to my house this week. I am getting a new and n dash DVD installed as well as the rear view camera. Also have to have the tent removed and re tint. Too dark for nys.

Just a little video from the dealer to let you know what the car looks like. I have some pics to share I will be pulling up

I wouldn't paint it unless the big graphic on the sides leaves a shadow. The silver, badge, and red/white pinstripe could be the beginning of a color scheme.

Does it still have Dexcool in it?

    Nice car, anyway.

I am not sure about the dexcool . Is there a track record of concern with that ?

I've never been a fan of that color on the grand prix. Personally I probably would have held out for a different color. I'm not a fan of the pinstriping on the sides either. I don't know if there is much you could do to help the color without actually painting it. You could get special edition roof rails that would help some.

I paid 11 k. I bought it as a summer car and hoping to keep it nice. I defintley have to remove those decals no matter what. I have heard negative things about dealing with the color of midnight metallic blue but it is what I was dreaming of. I I was looking for something that was borderline immaculate. I did find some with a better color but they weren't as well-kept and had issues on top of higher miles.

    Leave the color.
strip the fuggin ugly stripes, get new exhaust tips and start looking for new wheels.

If those wheels don't leak they will soon plus they will delaminate like a sumbtch.
I would tell you to lower it because it looks goofy but no one listens to me anyway

Why do say there are going to be issues with the wheels ? I did not see any thing on google as far as track record of problems. I don't hate the wheels but I would not be against changing them some day. I kinda of like The OEM premium wheels at the moment. It looks right to me. If I do change them I am thinking maybe black ?

Lowering it would help, and you could consider putting some wheels like these on it:

I had them. They eventually go south. The chrome flakes off and the bead goes bad.

Thanks for the heads up. The car comes with 17" rims...Do you know if I could use 16" ?

Just got the car in today from Indiana. Looks pretty ******* sharp but the sunroof seems a little finicky. I have to continuously hit the button to get it to open and close. Is this normal or is this a sign of something I need to repair? Any info would be much appreciated as always.

I am interested in changing the seats in the car. Would anyone know how I can match these to another manufacturer seats? I saw someone on here had Cadillac seats. Would anyone know what year or what style I could use? Thanks for the help

You paid 11 grand for a GP? I wanna know this dealers sales tactics so I can start selling cars too. for 11 grand I would have gotten something that is correct wheel drive and has 2 more cylinders. I love the GP but for that kind of cash I'd want something more fun.
