New guy here and future owner of 04 Grand Prix GTP. I haven't picked it up yet but its at a family members house and hopefully in the next 3-4 weeks it will be mine. It needs new spark plugs, catalytic converter, and has close to 200K on it but I'm also picking it up for scrap price which I consider a great deal. Just couldn't see it going to the scrap yard. Now for a few questions.

    1) Is there anything particular to this year that I need to look out for?

    2) Is there a recommended brand of spark plugs to run in these?

    3) I just plan on getting a ZZP 3" downpipe with cat. Is this the best course to go when it comes to the catalytic converter/exhaust or should I look into something else?

Welcome and congrats on your future purchase.

    1. Transmission - they all suck
    2. Factory plugs
    3. That'll work fine.

might want to do a coolant flush and change the intake manifold gaskets. just run the stock plugs, I've had good luck with autolites, other people like the ngk's. with that many miles, I wouldn't plan on modding it.

instead of the downpipe, you could consider sd headers because they cost about the same as the downpipe with the converter, but most sd header kits dont come with a converter, so you might have to reuse your stock one or purchase an aftermarket high flow converter.

I would suggest replacing the coolant elbows with the chrome ones that doorman makes..very easy to do, especially if youre going to replace the intake gaskets..save you an unwanted headache down the road

use the ac delco iridium plugs if you don't want to replace copper plugs every 15k.
change every fluid and filter on the car and get a flush done for the coolant.
    transmission fluid / filter
    brake fluid
    supercharger oil
    motor oil / filter
    fuel filter
    coolant (use the 50/50 green)
    air filter

i'd also start replacing some sensors ...
    both O2
    pcv valve
    maf
    IAT

if your not planning on doing any future mods the zzp 3 inch is the easiest / best way to go. maybe consider changing to a cone air filter setup of your choosing.
