    this is s nooby question buy my old gp didn't have this, I got a 2002 GT 40th edition today and there is a box with a bunch of wires running to it in the trunk its bolted down on a bracket that looks factory but im not sure what it is please help.

    Sounds like the OnStar thingamajig (module?). I have 99s and had a 40th also. It had that and 99s don't. I think it actually says OnStar on the cover.
    All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

    mine doesn't say onstar but I do have onstar, that's probably what it is.

    Mounted at an angle on the driver's side of the trunk, maybe the size of a small bread loaf? Probably it. If theres an owner's manual, check that out because there are a few differences. I had to look really close to see the writing on it, IIRC.

    ok so there is 2 boxes ones an onstar module, the other is a factory speaker amp.
