Never tried an HUD without HUD windshield but the glass people say it doesn't reflect well at all without the coated HUD glass. Price dif is only like @20 on 97-03s. Way to go, getting back to legit discussion.

    My stock hood?

EDIT: I mean, a metal flake paintjob that cost more than your car IS pretty gay.

Also back on track, HUD work with non HUD glass, but if you had HUD glass and switch, you WILL notice.

Built one last year myself, redid everything but eng n trans. He paid too much at 24K for the car but it looked nice. After fixing everything he was in it for another 40 or 50 , show ready with a poked 351 4 speed. And he brought most of the new parts from home. Its not unheard of to have a hun in a freshy.

The difference is in the plastic layer between the layers of safety glass. Sorry, I did say coated didn't I? Some glass is "encapsulated", some is not. Fact is, I ain't sure which these used or what replacements are available and it may vary between glass makers but I wouldn't recommend trying to imitate it, you could hinder visibility.

Good to know. Buying one for the 99 this week and Ima pay the extra cux I dig the HUD, it truly is a safety improver IMO.

On 04+ you get noticeable (but acceptable) ghosting with non-HUD glass. You can negate that by applying tint to the inside of the windshield, but that brings it own problems.

Be sure it has a HUD etching, or it's only "HUD comaptible" and not actual HUD glass and makes a difference.

Hey fish thats a good tip on HUD glass diff, I'll check to be sure what I'm getting. Of course theres multiple cheapo chioces, and one good one, lol.

The vag stank is clearing out of here now...

James, I only got to take the one I built for a few mile drive. It didn't have very many mods and felt like it would be a handful if a guy tried to push it in corners. Plenty zippy. Ain't had a damn thang on my fat Pontiac though, its the tightest of them all!
