Hey guys I'm ryan. new here. I have a 98 gp se 3.8. i seen a slight antifreeze leak by the thurmstat so i decided time to get the work. i replaced the lim gaskets with new felpro upgraded gaskets with aluminium. put on a aluminium elbow. new belt. fuel filter and spark plugs and wires. and a dorman upgraded intake. Checked over everything like 5 times. checked to be sure there was no water in the oil. fired her up didn't want to idle helped it for a few then it was idleing like crap. and it ramdomly started idleing up its self. Like to 3k. i noticed a lot of white smoke so i ran and pulled the dip stick and there was water in the damn oil. cut it off and pulled the oil plug as fast as i could. But what do you guys think its from i did use a torque wrech for everything . done the lower intake at 15 ft lbs. in the order the book said. and done like it said for the uim. but here is the thing i have every bolt but one. i lost the one on the back side by the throttle body. the one that is like a stud that holds down the egr heat shield. Do you all think it is dumping water because of that

is the bolt that it missing one of the three that bolt the TB to the UIM? there are coolant ports that allow coolant to flow from the UIM, through the throttle body, and back into the UIM. If one of the TB bolt is missing that will allow coolant to flow into the intake manifold. idk if that would cause it to get into the oil though

Did you inspect the intake around the egr for melted or corroded plastic?

There's a fair chance you mixed some oil and antifreeze during the LIM job... I always drove a couple hundred miles and then did another oil change after that just to make sure I got it all out.

Also, the N/A intakes are known to crack around where the EGR line goes in because they're plastic, and that can cause leaks. If that's the case, get an aluminum one (some of the later cars had them in junkyards or get an aftermarket one).

Sounds like you are on the right track by installing the aluminum gasket and making sure you torqued everything properly (most people don't do this)
If you lost that one bolt by the throttle body, that could very well be the reason you are still getting water in the oil. Don't leave anything to chance, get a replacement bolt and torque it down. Sounds like you figured it out.

So i went and got the bolt. and for the ****s and giggles went and exchanged my upgraded dorman uim for another new one. rechecked the lim. put it altogether. Changed the oil and no water in oil now. but i heard some noise like hissing around the injectors so I'm thinking the o rings? even tho there new felpro ones. the car is now missing when in park and idleing. Got the check engine light scanned and it said multiple misfire. Put in new spark plugs and wires. cleaned injectors and put on new fuel filter. same crap and now the temp is where it should be at idle and once i start driveing it gets close to the red. I love my gp but its driveing me crazy. also note it has the upgraded dorman intake. aluminium lim gaskets. Aluminium elbows. All that is 2 days old now

double check firing order for the misfire and bleed the coolant system with bleed screw on top of thermostat housing, probably trapped air causing the heating problem, jimmy

I never undone any plug wires but they are tight and on the plugs. so the order is wright. it only misses when there is no load that's the odd thing and i bleed the system a lot . i thought that's what it was too. but i got it till only antifreeze was comeing out and double checked it about 8 times. but on the miss deal i let the injectors sit in seafoam for about six hours i didn't screw the injectors did i? I wouldn't think i did because I've had cloged injectors in a couple of cars and done this and they ran perfect after. I may just suck it up and put it in the shop lol I've owned 47 cars in 13 years and have never had a shop lay a hand on them. if i couldn't fix it. it went on craigslist but can't do that. i love my gp. my favorite out of 47 cars. and I've had my honda moments. classics. and the truck stage. but there is something. about this car. i can put my daughter in the back. and when she ain't with me i can haul ass even in curves. i just with it was a gtp. but she is just se with a gt body kit and gtp wheels lol
