    Hi, so i have a 1997 GTP, and i have heard that switching to e85 is good for a few pulley size drops and good increase in HP.
    what do i need to do to swap? I have read that several people have just stuck the 42# injectors in the cars without a tune. Since the increase in flow from the new injectors and the increase in fuel needed for e85 is the same you dont need the tuen. I would have thought this would require a tune to account for any small differences.
    any thougths?
    I have also seen several people ask about the fuel tank with e85 questions. What is the necessary fuel tank to run e85, and what comes in a 97gtp?

    My 97 works fine. The metal tank will be fine. Get ready to do fuel pump mods to keep up with the extra demand.

    No, if you do 42.5 lb injectors, you don't need a tune. The pcm doesn't know you put 30% bigger injectors in, so it injects 30% more fuel. Which is what you need for e85. If you don't do 42.5 lb injectors, you need a tune.

    This just moved to the top of my mod list! With a walbro 255 already in the tank, I should be good to go.

    On the hunt for a good set of used 42.5# injectors!

    Short story;
    When we lived in Michigan, I burned corn to heat our house. That is, until the government started subsidizing e85 and the price of corn TRIPLED!! I hated the whole e85 thing.

    If it's as great as everyone says it is, I might change my mind...

    It all makes sense from a chemical standpoint... go get rubbing alcohol and put some on the back of your hand... blow on it...tell me what you feel... same thing in a cylinder...

    I live less than 4 miles and 8 minutes from the nearest e85 station. I'm going to have to do the conversion soon!

    I was thinking of doing the 42.5 injectors so I didn't have to tune right away. Do the injector swap, and a pulley drop. Run that for a while to save up for my own tuner. I will probably hit you up for some tuning advice once I get there though.

    Thats my plan, maybe headers, and then work on my handling (swaybars etc) until i get my taxes back and go turbo .
    there's only one e85 station here close to my house, but the owner is running it in his car

    1 station is all you need. Ive only got 1 station that sells E85 inside the DC metro beltway and its worth the hassle to go get it. I usually just go get it at night like 9pm when I need. The gains are certainly worth it. Unless you live in a metro area I doubt having only 1 station would be an issue.
