Hello everyone i am the proud new owner of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2 with 190000 miles. I love the car and its loaded with every option including the head up display (doesn't work). I have an issue with my fuel pump whinning. I replaced the pump and it still whines am i missing something that will prevent the noise?

they whine when the key is first turned its priming the engine for 5 seconds, after that you wont hear much from it.

as long as it runs well id not worry so much.

you can check the pressure at the rail on the engine.

My 2000 Gtp with 205k miles whines loudly the whole time. Don't have any issues with it other than it being loud. My brother in law's 2000 Bonneville ssei whines just like mine. His has 160k miles. Unless there is a noticeable issue I wouldn't worry about it. If it really bothers you then replace it.
