Yes the pumps are the same from the factory. GTP's don't have fancy pumps.

As long as they are the same year your fine. right around 00, 01 gt's and gtp's switched from metal to plastic tanks, the newer tanks use a venturi pump and older ones don't. But same year you should be fine unless I am forgetting something goofy.

you are backwards... The older ones used Venturi. 97-first half of 2000 had venturi. Then second have of 2000-2008 used non-venturi pumps. PLUS IIRC the GTP pumps are dual speed pumps.

I'm pretty sure the GTP uses a different pump.

    GT: ACDELCO Part # MU1727

    GTP: ACDELCO Part # MU1785

That's just what rock auto claims is the original equipment options for 2000, you might want to check a dealer catalog to be sure.

Also, the GTP pump might fit on the GT and work just fine. Hopefully someone who has done it will chime in.

The gtp is 2 speed, pretty sure on my 00 gtp the tank is metal,on the 03 se we have its 100% plastic,as far as I can see they look the same on gtp,gt,se by looking at the top, holes are same, not definite if they interchange but gtp is definate 2 speed cause when its going semi bad you can bend the terminal on the fuse for the pump out and plug it back in and works full speed

I've done a bunch of swaps and a NA pump can easily fuel a SC engine. The opposite is also true.. an SC pump can fuel an NA motor, I run my SC pump in high speed mode all the time with my NA motor..... because the resistor blew a few years back.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Not sure I understand your question 94, please elaborate.

An NA motor with pcm programming and fuel pressure regulator will keep things in check.
An SC motor with the pump in high speed all the time plus regulator, you'll notice your fuel trims a bit off. But that's because when the programming is expecting you to be running in slow speed, you are in high.

Got it.. I have 2 NA original cars running SC setups. Thats why I was confused I guess. Didn't know about the two speed business.

The two speed thing was GM's sick and twisted way of causing GT's to win races against GTP's by disabling the fuel system when the resistor burned up.

So I put the pump in the car, it wants to start (meaning i can hear slightly catching) but it just doesnt ? Did I buy a bad pump ?

I'm thinking about just selling the car
