Hello everyone, I am new this forum community and very excited to be a member. Honestly, I joined for a semi-selfish reason (I need help with my 08 GXP) however, that should not take away from a wonderful opportunity to meet other enthusiasts, and hopefully build some new friendships. My name is George and I live in northern Colorado. I was born in Utah and lived there until my teenage years then moved to Wyoming in which I spent the next 30 or so years. I have a pretty normal existence, wife, kids, mortgage, and the ole job. I have always had a deep affection for automobiles, probably since taking a ride in my uncle's brand new 1969 396 SS Chevelle. My first car was a 1969 Olds Delta 88, bought it for $50.00 when I was 14 years old. The car was dark green with a white hard top. A four door of course. I was hooked after lighting up the tires, stomping on the accelerator to a running 455 is no small thing for teenager, lol. Now I know this is Pontiac territory but admittedly, I am a rocket head, or rather a recovering rocket head.
This is the first Pontiac I have ever owned, but I did have a 1977 Cutlass S with a Pontiac 400, ran pretty good. I have purchased my GXP within the last 4 weeks and I have to say, the car is a little monster. Plenty of get out of your way and it handles quite nice considering the FWD format. I like the way the car feels and sounds. The looks are very sporty and even with a potent V-8 it gets better mileage than my 99 F-250 (V-10). The car does have its problems, primarily from being used and probably abused, although it seems to have been taken care of. I know, I know, show me the Carfax!
I believe the rear wheel bearings are in need of replacing, I can hear the low pitch growl in the rear. I am going to check them after I finish this post and pull a Carfax. Recently, the starter is trying to engage while the car is running (remote start). When this event occurs, the traction control, ABS, and engine light come on and then turn off. The HUD displays service stability control. This event does not seem to have any real pattern, but is becoming more frequent and for longer periods of time. Basically, the starter acts as though the key has been turned to start position while the engine is already running. However, actually turning the key to start position while the engine is running produces not effect. To sum it up, the starter randomly is crashing into the flywheel while running and the warning lights go crazy.
I have indeed rambled on long enough and I hope that anyone who reads this will accept my greetings and hopefully provide some feed back to this rather irritating problem.
