I know there are many threads on here that let you know what you need to lower your grand prix the right way, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any full lowering kits that you can buy to have it all come in one package and ready to put on car? Thanks!

There's no real "KIT" so to speak. Usually people just slap some Lowering springs in their car, and call it a day.Originally Posted by twitticus

Now if you wanna go lower than that, you can buy or build your own coilovers. Or Build/Buy airbags, and get a decent management system for the bags.
I for one, say the best thing for these car's is a set of DIY coils. There's a few good threads on here for those, and i'll be adding my own shortly.

I plan on buying lowering springs but I thought that would be really hard on my stock suspension to just change the springs and nothing else. I'll make sure to keep an eye on your page for when you come out with a guide. I would like to have the car as low as possible without coilovers but still do it right, I would just hate to put over 1k in my first lowered vehicle until I know its really something for me.

Well, If you have your heart dead set of just going with lowering springs. I could get new all new struts/topmounts, the whole deal..... But if you do that, you may as well just buy parts to build coilovers Would be a couple hundred in price difference between a lowering spring setup, and coilovers. But think then, for that couple hundred more. you can set the car to whatever height you are happy with.. Wether it be slammed, or just lowered a bit .... IMHO. Running lowering springs is just a waste, cause 99.9% of people running them, arn't happy with the end result, and go coils anyways...

So would you suggest building coilovers? I'm really new to all this and I thought you just bought the kits. Looks like im going to have to do some more research.

I suggest doing some more research and figure out which route is going to be better for YOU. Not everyone has the time, knowledge or space to build there own or money.

Yeah i'm going to keep reading up on everything I can find. I'd like the car to be tucked, but im only wanting to spend around 500-600 which is looking to be more and more impossible by the minute.

well technically ZZP makes a "bolt in" set of lowering springs and whatnot... Just unbolt your stock stuff, and bolt this is...
but i've seen the end results of that setup, and it's not something i'd wanna spend money on lol
If you honestly don't mind waiting around a little while. I plan on ordering the last of what i need to finish my coils (just struts now) and i'll have them banged out soon. I really plan on Helping oout other people with not only my writeup. But i also plan on producing some parts, and selling them (would really help out in the big "custom" part of building them)
I'm only doing fronts for now, as i don't have an income, and it's all i can really afford atm.

Even if there were "bolt in" lowering kits readily available, the chanches that they'd be $500 or less are slim to none. Even the KYB AGX struts, which are not very good/proper, but are the closest off the shelf thing we have for lowering, cost around $500 new for a set. You can MAYBE find them around $400 if you're patient and really dig around for a bargain, and that's JUST your struts.
It's going to cost some money to get a decent sized drop, and to do it properly with quality parts that will last more than a year. If it were cheap and easy to do, everyone would be doing it.

The best way to lower and be happy would be to have your shocks rods cut down and re machined. It would be hell getting the strut mount assembled on top of it but its possible

It still amazes me that with the amount of W-Bodies that were produced over the years that no one has manufactured a bolt on coilover kit. There were only 151,000 total 3000GT's and Stealth's made (for US sales), of which 18% or about 27,000 were AWD and there are bolt on coilovers produced by numerous manufacturers, such as Tein, Megan, K-Sport, and so on for both FWD and AWD. (AWD had a different rear suspension from the FWD)
The "class" of the cars probably play a factor, but still based on pure numbers you would think a manufacturer would be able to sell 10,000 kits easily if available.

Probably has to do with the class of vehicles. Nobody really expects someone to mod a Wbody especially to that extent.

I'm a bit shocked in general that it hasn't been done (at least struts with the proper lowering strut rod/shaft resizing), but I don't think they'd sell anywhere near 10k kits. The class plays a lot bigger role then you're giving credit for. Certainly more so than the purely numbers statistics.
With the 3000GT/Stealth, you're talking about a performance car. Most people who owned one when they were newer, or now, are enthusiasts, not to mention when they were newer, you had to have some money to own, let alone play with one. Even now, comparatively speaking to cars from the same years, they're a bit pricey. Given all that, owners of those vehicles splurging on performance parts was a lot more feasible, thus worth it to companies to produce parts for.
By comparison, whether people in the community like to admit it or not, the w-bodies are daily driven family grocery-getters and commuters that a handful of people (by comparison to the total number produced) are nutty enough to try to squeeze some performance out of. When they were newer, very few of those in the targeted demographic with enough income to buy one were interested in modifying the suspension. Now that they're old enough to be dirt cheap/worthless retail value-wise, they're in the hands of a few people who want to turn them into performance cars, but that also means they're mostly in the hands of people who can't afford a $600+ suspension kit.
I still think they'd sell a decent amount, so I'm still surprised it was never done, but 10k is not realistic to me.

Yeah, looks like i'll be putting any serious suspension work off until I have saved up enough. I'll probably go with lowering springs for now, but if im going to lower anymore than that I know it needs to be done right. Thanks for all the responses guys!
