I put in coolant elbows and a new water pump last night (pats self on back) but I noticed a lot of grunge around the LIM area. I was under the impression that the 08 would have an upgraded LIM and not be the ****ty plastic ones. I believe there are 3 gaskets, two angled up and one flat on the bottom like this \ _ /

The two side gaskets look aluminum but the bottom one I was able to grab a hold of and it seemed like flimsy black plastic.

So my question is, how could an 08 have ended up in this situation? Has anyone else encountered this on this late of a model? Am I overlooking something?

I should have snapped a couple pics when I was in there but I didn't.

the side flat gaskets are rubber seal under the lim to the block.

its the sides, head to lim where you want the metal gaskets. sounds like your ok.

Ohhhh, ok I was not understanding your response at first. In this thread ( http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...-and-questions ), if you scoll to the post on 9-25-2013 the arrow in the first picture is what I was wiggling.

Based on your response it sounds like that is supposed to be rubber. Sounds like I'm in the clear!

Hmm, now I have to find something else to worry about ... leaking rear calipers, ticky injectors, grimy spots on the engine, rust - I guess I still have plenty.

thats just eric, im sure he means your next fix will be blinker fluid, or muffler bearings, dont forget the left handed screw driver and hammer.
