    My bbv shaft is rubbing on the solenoid and occasionally sticks. The other side of the solenoid is snug against the fuel rail. I have tried to use a screwdriver and create a little space, this works for a few days and then it starts sticking again. Is there a way to correct this or do I need to just replace it and will a new one do the same thing? It also appears to be adjusted all the way could this be why it takes forever to get into boost? I have to get into some pretty high rpm's but it eventually gets to full boost. I don't see any lego blocks till around 4500 rpm.

    solenoid tab looks bent. bend it back out so it doesn't rub.

    and if someone adjusted it improperly before you then you should reset it back to the "stock" positioning. no one should ever have a reason to adjust it.

    Yeah i have read about pushing it down but that seems like a band-aid to me not a fix and i really hate band-aids.

    So looking at the new solenoids and the shape of the bracket is that solenoid supposed to be on the other side of the fuel rail? The new solenoid has a straight bracket with no 90 degree bend in it.

    Ok I straightened the bracket out and man those vac hoses are old and rotting lol. I would pretty much bet i got a vacuum leak with all the rot going on. Gonna see if that keeps it from binding and see if i can figure out where to actually set the height of that thing and replace those vac lines and maybe just maybe all will be good then.

    Wow what a difference. Runs like a different car. I might actually be getting into boost too fast now though I am afraid. I hit 3/4 boost (on the lego blocks) at 40% throttle. I didn't touch the two rear bolts on the actuator bracket but I did remove the front nut entirely. I am concerned that it sagged a little and is now too far down allowing me to get into boost so fast. Its great for take off and mid range power band but I am worried about mpg and longevity as well. Trying to find something that tells me the correct way to adjust that thing. Any ideas?

    Awesome I am just so used to having to floor it to see any boost at all that I didnt know when it was supposed to come in. Thanks for the help and info runs sooooo much better.

    yeah, basically once you actually start getting into the pedal it'll start making boost. it's supposed to be like that.

    I have been driving a little neon sxt for the last 3 years and while the gtp is still not a racecar it sure is nice to have enough power to get out of your own way lol.

    stepping from my top swapped GT into my base model impreza was a step in the wrong direction power wise, but going from that car to my CTS-V was a giant leap in the right direction. i can't drive a slow car daily. it just makes me upset because i have to rape the car to actually drive in traffic how i want to.

    I totally can relate to that. I drive one of the worst roads in Dallas every day 110 miles round trip commute with some of the most aggressive and stupid drivers in the state. If I got no power under me it doesn't go well. I think there was an indention in the floorboard behind the accelerator in that little neon. I stepped up to the GP not only for the extra power but the comfort. I have a bad back and that is a long drive sitting in some crappy seats. With normal traffic it takes me about an hour and 15 minutes but there have been days it took me 3 hours to get home. I had an expedition that I loved driving in that mess but the fuel bill was almost 600 a month.
