Hey everybody just joined the forum. I got a 04 GTP Comp group and ive had it since the end of june. i love the car and got big plans for it.... but i got a major clunking noise everytime i put it in gear and start to take off or hit the brakes. has anybody else had this issue and if so wat was it. it sounds like its coming from the front drives side. ive replace the strut and mount and the tie rod end and it still does it. what could it be???!???!

sounds like the motor and tranny mount need to be changed.

pop the hood, start the car, then watch the engine as you shift it from P to R to D. if its moving more then 2 inches thats your clunk.

Mileage? Any play in the tires at all? If not, check the motor mounts. Could be ball joints or LCA bushings.

Its got 121xxx and the motor and trans mounts look good. When you go to shake the motor the whole car moves. And when you shift it into gear and watch the motor its not moving excesively or hard. And my next thing to replace is the ball joint. After i get new tires put on.

Yeah it sounds like ball joints or the lca bushings to me. When you accelerate and brake, it puts a strain in a twisting motion on those parts as they're trying to hold the knuckle perfectly straight. So it may slide one way or another if there's play.

check the sway bar bushings and end links also. the bushings go bad and clunk over bumps.

they are worth looking at still, there right there so its easy to see if they are bad.
