Hello, I am new to the forum I recently picked up my 07 Grand Prix GT S/C - I have proceeded to mod my car in the correct order (I hope) I have dropped in a 180* t-stat, colder plugs and 10.5mm wires. I am currently running a HAI (I do not need a lecture on the intake as I know there is a major debate on this subject just looking for help or input) I removed from my 04 GT and now the 07 has the same issue my 04 had. Between 2k- 3.5k RPM (under light load) there is a ticking, knocking annoyance - I wonder if this is the infamous KR which I can actually hear or if its the aluminum intake I am running causing excess air.... I am not sure what it is. The car runs absolutely flawless as does my old GP I just wonder what exactly would cause this ? (obviously it has to be the intake) but why would a simple HAI cause this ? Thanks

I feel like it's just the sound the filter makes. My car does it too and it's an 06 and I just threw a filter on it

Its annoying ... atleast to me... I get on the throttle a little and I hear a wondrous rattle or tick ..... I wonder if investing in a Wizaired or Custom FWI intake would eliminate it hmmm.

If you fear you have KR (more then normal), then you need to buy and aeroforce to scan your car

I will once I get the cash to afford that (aeroforce) I just picked up a zzp 3inch dp so we will see what it does after the installation of that. Maybe its just an annoyance or a result of the cheap intake I mean honestly is KR really even a legible sound ? as in can one literally listen for KR ?

Eh, my custom intake makes some tick/knock at 2k through 3k too. Mainly under load, gets quiet under boost or at higher rpm. Just how these engines are noisy. Never bothered me. It's a 04, and did it since I put the intake on, before the engine work and after. I feel this is perfectly normal and shouldn't worry you. If you pay attention, you will notice it mainly only happen when in overdrive, trying to go up a slight hill.

You have to deal with it or stick the airbox back on!

KR Sounds more like popcorn and you can feel a power loss, as in the intake ticking under light load, well you won't feel any power loss and if you monitor, won't see any KR.

Another quick question does anyone know if the ZZP powerlog is a bolt on part for 04+ or does it require modification?
