I am going to start tearing down a 2002 2 dr Black GTP. I had a 1998 a few years ago that I put SLP headers Cat and exhaust on. Also put the FX 1 Ram Air hood and spoiler. I plan tearing the 2002 down to the unibody / frame. I purchased a Auto Rostisserie to do the body work ( car is rust free from Virgina) and the painting. I am going to put seats in it from a 2010 Impala( both will be power and heated, leather). The back seats will be refurbished in leather. Going to paint the interior all black with black carpet and head liner. Will put a touch screen 7 inch display radio. Changing wheels to 17, with SSBC big brake up grades FT/Rear. Will replace all brake lines with SS. Going with Black 5 spoke rims with orange pin strip on rim. Sending trans to Triple Edge in Indiana( going to build up to handle 400 hp at the wheels). I am tearing engine ten over bore and rebuilding from ground up.Getting the parts from Intense Racing in Ohio. Powder coating the engine in black and orange. Going with 3 inch exhaust headers and Corsa exhaust. I will be putting the FX 1 Hood with air box and spoiler. Getting the black head and tail lights. Will repainted black with the 2 snokrles on the hood in hugger orange and all the badges in the H.O. My budget is 21000.00 with 1500 already paid for the car. Any thoughts suggestion?

Um I wouldn't bother boring the engine. Seems to not really do anything on these engines.

I have to agree with the first post, leave the block stock and don't touch the bottom end. They are known to handle 500+ hp with no issues, and it will save you some money aswell. If the engine blows up its either user error or a part failure that could happen at anytime.

Sounds like this whol build can be done for under $10,000 if most of the work is done yourself, the biggest things are the transmission, rims/tires, paint and interior.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't just go out and buy a GTO, but hey, keep a guy on the Grand Prix's right? I am very interested in this build, and would love to see pictures of progress.

Sounds like you have a plan. I'd be in the boat with others on getting something else, but if a GTP is your passion, then have at it.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I find it interesting that you mention it's a "high performance" build, but you don't really say what you're doing to the engine - most of what's listed is appearance mods. What are you putting into the engine? What kind of HP are you thinking you'll get out of it? What size pulley are you moving to? Intercooler?
