Thread: 03 GTP intermittent issues

hey new to the forum, been stalking you guys for a while and ive managed to buy a 03 GTP that has been giving me issues since i bought it. most of the time it drives great and i love the car, then out of nowhere it dies and dosent want to stay running, or idle goes up and down, or it wont want to shift out of 2nd gear? checked the vacuume lines and replaced one or two, new timing belt, new throttle position sensor. i'm kinda lost where to go next? it will drive fine for like 100+ miles then it acts out. when i changed fuel filter it had plenty of junk, saw someone's post today with a somewhat siilar issue and it was a pcm. hate to just start throwing 100$ parts at it so i figured i'd ask you guys first.

came on once, code 101 i believe? usually when it acts up there's no code but it did once.

cleaned screen in front of throttle body today, sprayed carb cleaner on the vacuume lines trying to find the leak didnt find any. replaced a few more cracking lines. took computer in to be tested and dealer wanted 100$ just to test it. any directions from you guys would be of great help. no code at anytime today

thanks, still fighting this issue. drove it about 5 miles to the store today and it started acting up right as i got home. sprayed carb cleaner all over, no result. shifted hard and idle kept fluctuating. considering replacing MAF... gonna hit it with the neighbor's code reader tomorrow. any suggestions would be appreciated.

went ahead and bought a new IAC today, threw a new code before I installed it. 0121 and 0502. the great google says its a throttle position sensor, which has already been replaced. going to take it back and replace again then go from there. looked over the wiring from the TPS to the computer and it all looks good.

I checked, rechecked all the wiring, vacuum lines and replaced several sensors. I am about at the point of buying a new pcm. considering getting ZZPerformance's 1.0 PCM. for the moment the car is the wife's DD grocery getter. but i'd like to do a mild pulley swap, hot air intake, downpipe, colder plugs and whatnot on down the line. but seeing as I just purchased the car I don't have the cash for all that. PCM's on ebay go for about 60$ but ive heard they require a dealer flash which I imagine to be expensive. I took the PCM out to have it tested and dealer wanted 84$ just to diagnoiss. I said no thanks. anything else to check before I bite that bullet? what PCM would be best for me being bone stock and wanting to upgrade later? many thanks guys! -allen

That almost sounds like what is happening with my car. My mother bought it new in 02. Its a 40th anniversary GTP 4dr. It is having problems under boost. it runs fine without boost but once I get on it, it starts to sputter. I just found the problem I have been having with the headlights (short behind under hood fuse box) but now this started and I would like an idea of where to start looking.
