Hello everyone. My name is Veronica & I just recently bought a 98 Gtp for dirt cheap.... $1000. Lucky if I do say so myself. Of course with a dirt cheap price there is bound to be some issues. Now keep in mind til I came along this car had not ran or even started for that fact for a year! She does 136xxx miles.... with that said her main problems are, power surges only in idle or normal driving, tsc won't kick off sometimes, obd2 scanner says egr valve is stuck open, & the alternator (or so it sounds) is whinning. Tranny sounds & feels good same goes with the motor. Supercharger pulls hard. She is white n has little to no body damage. A few dings like in the trunk & back quarter panel. Very happy with my purchase except with her problems which I'm yet trying to figure out the power surges.... any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated! This is my first GM car so a lil "stupid" when it comes to them.

Welcome. I agree with those above about doing plugs and wires to start. Clean the throttle body and MAF as well. As for the whining, that can be several things. It can be the alternator, power steering pump, etc. There are ways to narrown it down and that will help keep you from just throwing parts at it. That is assuming it isn't the supercharger whine you are hearing. If thats the case, some whine from the supercharger is a good thing.
