I got a chance to pick up a '97 GP at a really cheap price. What parts off of it would work on my '03 GP?

Well you tell us only the years. So if one is a 3.1 and the other is a 3.8, then body panels and interior parts.. well that is if you have the same number of doors.

Oh hell.. Nothing will fit ... until you tell us more. Then parts might fit.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Both 4 doors, and at the moment assume the '97 has the 3.8 NA and the 2003 is a limited Edition (aka GTP).

Most all body panels int/ext should be the same as long as its the same color. Suspension should pretty well be the same as I'd imagine its a 97 GT with the 3.8NA, but likely most will be shot due to age so you wouldn't want to use most of the parts. Motor is going to be different but alot of the sensors should interchange, minus the TB MAF sensor. Trans will be vastly different, stay away from it.

Electronics will be most noticable as 97-99 use basic keys with little to no security, 00-03 use a PK3 key setup and security, wheel buttons are different, the DIC will be different being a NA motor, etc.

What are wanting to get off the car specifically?

Maybe make some retro-fits out of the headlights, LED mod some parts, the wheels, etc. Heck, not sure what all is wrong with it, maybe fix it and flip it? or I could part it out.

Went to check out the car. It is in very good shape for a '97. He said the main thin wrong, is that when you put the tranny in gear, it takes a second or so to actually get into gear. I checked the fluid (but not the level), and it wasn't red, but a sort of "clearish brown" or light coloured brown. do you think it might be a simple fluid change to fix, orr could it be a sensor? or is the tranny shot? He said once it is in gear, he can drive it all he wants, and it shifts good and drives good. It also had some rust, the worse being the right side rocker piece under the front and rear door. It looked like I could just cut it out and weld in a new piece. I checked the strut and shock towers, and they where in perfect condition. It does have the 3800 in it, and it ran very good. Thinking if the tranny just needs a fluid and filter change, and maybe a sensor, it could be a good summer project for me and my son. It would probably take very little work to get it into great shape. (only concern is the tranny????) So, any of you with experience have an idea about the tranny???

Clearish brown, I recently saw that. Its cooked, beaten and murdered clutches. I think of that as being on borrowed time. And I feel a trans isn't a hard job

Are you saying changing a tranny isn't that difficult? Would it be cheaper to rebuild the original, or buy one from a wreckers?

wrecker should be much cheaper, if you pull the tranny its 200$ (local)
a full service yard might ask 800 for one, (and if they tell you its low miles........... its probly not)
a rebuild here would cost about 2500 with new electrics
