Went to check out the car. It is in very good shape for a '97. He said the main thin wrong, is that when you put the tranny in gear, it takes a second or so to actually get into gear. I checked the fluid (but not the level), and it wasn't red, but a sort of "clearish brown" or light coloured brown. do you think it might be a simple fluid change to fix, orr could it be a sensor? or is the tranny shot? He said once it is in gear, he can drive it all he wants, and it shifts good and drives good. It also had some rust, the worse being the right side rocker piece under the front and rear door. It looked like I could just cut it out and weld in a new piece. I checked the strut and shock towers, and they where in perfect condition. It does have the 3800 in it, and it ran very good. Thinking if the tranny just needs a fluid and filter change, and maybe a sensor, it could be a good summer project for me and my son. It would probably take very little work to get it into great shape. (only concern is the tranny????) So, any of you with experience have an idea about the tranny???
