Makes me...
Nvmd, lost my thought.
My car is red.
The only thing holding you back is your $1,000 budget.
The trans you would need is going to run you $5,000. I know this because I priced one for my build, and that's when I decided to demod.
As far as the turbo itself, I wouldn't use a semi-turbo. I would use an ebay knock off of a name brand turbo. As far as the turbo crossover, with a welder and some pipe it wouldn't be too hard to fab something up. Plan ahead, space will be limited.
After you spend money getting your hotside setup, you'll need a boost controller that keeps you from going over 6 psi, and a tune for boost. Get HPT and do it yourself. That should all get you over your budget but by less than $500.
In all reality, if you can't afford a new engine and trans, you should leave this idea alone.
Bull**** on the $200 for injectors and a fuel pump. I'm calling you out on that. There's no way in hell you will find that new at that cost. Post the links to these. Your trans comment again bull****. Why because its not going in a Fiero its going in a piggy and I don't give a **** how it drives it the trans is going to go out. People have GTP's with stock trans go out all the time and they don't make near enough power a turbo will. How in the hell do you think that he won't eventually need a built one or a replacement is bull****.
A seasoned owner with a lot of spare parts and the right resources could do this for potentially under $1,000 but you have to be more realistic.
walbro = $60 42s = $120. I never said these were new parts for the fuel system... he asked if he could do it on that budget and I said it was more than possible. Hell new injectors are $210 high retail and a walbro is $80... so $300 for a fuel system woah look out.
Transmissions last alot longer than the internet says they do, I know because I have done it in fieros, gtps, bonnevilles.....
Probably true, but it still doesnt make it impossible... I did cheap crap back when I was unemployed reformatting computers once a week without any prior experience... and that was when ebay didnt carry hardly anything turbo or 3800 related. The major issue about not having piles of spare parts and experience means you will probably have your car down whilest building it for a signficant period of time, which is usually a huge deal to the kids that want to do these things.A seasoned owner with a lot of spare parts and the right resources could do this for potentially under $1,000 but you have to be more realistic.
im new to the GP world from the truck world. i know many people with modded LS swapped trucks and stock 4L60E trans that handle 350-400 wheel HP. i would assume a 4T65E or 4T65E HD would be able to handle quite a bit. then again this is Longitudinal trans vs Transverse trans, so there may be some other weak links..
That comment above me honestly lol. He speaks the truth
fun article on the 4L65 that kinda describes the torque rating of the trans. Again for a longitudinal trans soo..FWIW

Yeah, these transmissions seriously suck. It will never compare.
