Hows it going?! new here with a 2000 gtp that will be my DD for a while while i save up for a new project. the car is a 2000 with 176k miles! runs great looks ok.

a lil history on previous rides...
2002 civic si, intake, cat back, CF hood...

traded for a 95 gmc slammed 5/7 and a lot more, 305 5 speed, headers...

biggest mistake i made is when i traded for bagged noma

goal is to DD the GP, fix and sell the noma to build a 88-98 gm full size

Could be lots of things. Could of just been an old belt, the tensioner not working properly, bent pulley, bad oil leak, ??? Just install a new one and see if it doesn't die prematurely. There is excellent help on this forum on how to do this. Heck, if I could follow the instructions successfully, ANYONE can.

i can throw a belt on, just curious to what else could cause one to break. and it very well could be old!

also this forum is great and has tons of info! i have a lot to learn haha..im really trying not to mod this car (has 176k miles) but its hard when seeing all these great rides

solid from factory got 10bolts front and back, although my truck eats a couple diffs every year (rear) , i find it funny my 28 spline axles are holding strong,

and if i had to reccomend you should just go 400 small block, with vortec heads, just go bigger valves in the head, 2.05/1.6, wont cost more then stock size, get the preformance ones from sbi or qual-fast. when you choose this you can get a easy 450hp and over 400ft lbs from 2500-5500 with a smaller cam, you get power and reliabilty, i love doing a mild 400 instead of squeezing a 350, cost is relative
