Greetings everybody. Found this forums a few weeks back, been doing alot of reading and decided to actually join and post a little.

A quick back story on my car:

My previous daily driver was a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I've had for 6 years. While it's been a highly dependable vehicle, it was time to find something with better gas milage. So after doing some searching on Craigslist and other areas, I wandered upon this 2000 Grand Prix GTP.

After doing some research on these vehicles, I was a little nervous about checking it out, mainly because of the transmission issues that seem to be prevalent with these cars. However, when I met with the older couple that owned the car and test drove, my fears were soon dispelled. They were the 2nd owners of the vehicle, who had not only taking immaculate care of the car and had all the service records, but they had already encounter issues with the tranny, and the window buttons, and a few others and had already gotten those problems fixed/replaced. Not only that, but they had a transferable power-train warranty that was good for the next 13 months. So I bought it and six weeks later I could not be happier with my purchase so far.

The only problems with the car that I was made aware of during the test drive is that the stereo deck didn't work half the time, which was fine because I was going to replace it with a newer stereo even if it did work. And the ABS light comes on randomly. I had the breaks checked out and was told they were perfectly fine, so I'm not 100% sure what the issue is, but hopefully I can figure that out at some point.

Anyways, look forward to reading alot here and posting some. Pictures will follow at some point.

Transmission issues occur because people like to drive their grocery-getter like a racekar. If you treat it nice, it will last a long time. Many a 3800 + 4t65 combo has gone 200,000 miles.

Yeah. I know alot of people like to race these cars, but that's not the reason I bought it.

transmissions are fine for what you want it for....beating on them or a lot of power build they tend to be unreliable, i still have yet to break one though
