My name is Kevin. I would like to say Hello to everyone. I own a '99 Grand Prix 6.3L V.6. I've been having problems with it. I can diagnose & fix most issues but my current problem is beyond my scope. My fuel gauge is stuck at 1/2 tank. It doesn't move. does anyone know what could be the problem & how to fix it? The bigger problem is when I fuel up the vehicle. I put the gas hose in the tank & when filling up it stops at about 1 gal. as if the tank is full. I can hear the gas gurgle down. Then I can fill up some more. It take me about a half hour to fill up. What could be the cause & how can I fix it? Any help would be appreciated. Kevin

    Kevin,

First.. which size engine do you have, because there isn't a 6.3L
Second, It sounds like the vent for your tank is blocked. If you remove the rear right tire and splash shield you should be able to access the hoses for filling the tank. I'd pull them and check them. then it could only be a tank or evap issue.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Sorry, had a miss type I guess. It is a 6.1L Where is the Evap sensor located? Also, Could the fuel sensor be causing my guage to be stuck. can I access it in the gas tank thru the trunk?

Thank your for the advise so far.

Em unless you did some custom crap I've never seen you have a 3.8L not a 6.2. Sorry these cars aren't that awesome.

    Kevin,

The options in your year were 3.1, 3.8 NA and 3.8 SC. It's a bit tough for me to tell you where the part is when you have an imaginary engine that was never available in the vehicle.

Meanwhile....welcome and soon, we'll help you resolve the issue.

Pic of engine? o.O I'm thinking he's got a 3.1L, because he did say V6, and second post has a .1...

HA HA HA! OK i get it. Yes, it is quite the imaginary engine! Thanks for making me feel like an even bigger dumbass. I'm sure you guys knew what I ment the second time. IT'S A 3.1! I guess I should proof read my stuff before I send it. And yes for clarification I am a semi-dumbass.

I'll second a clog in the gas fill.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.
