Recently I bought a 2002 GP GT and I absolutely love this car!!! The only mod I have on it so far is a 9" open cone K&N air filter. I've done some perusing of this forum and have found a hefty amount of information; we sure have a lot of knowledgeable individuals with experience in the 3800 setup.

In the not so distance past I have owned a 2010 Cobalt SS Turbocharged, fun car to drive and more fun to de-badge and blow peoples’ minds at stop lights. I only had it lowered with 18" rims. I would love to post some pictures but my wife knocked my exterior HDD off our desk and poof, gone are years of memories and information . I also have a 2007 Chevy Tahoe LT3, mainly for the wife and the kids. When you live in Colorado it's nice to have an SUV. I bought the GP GT to replace my Cobalt, and because it only cost me $2,750 and has more room in the cabin.

Thank you for having me on this Forum and I hope to learn a lot more about the 3800 engine.

Welcome to the site, glad to hear you're enjoying the GP. They're a nice smooth ride with plenty of leg and cargo room. I like them for what they are. But I'd absolutely love to have a fun SS/TC. They're starting to grow on me in style. What are your plans for the car? Post pics if you can.

The SS was a fun car but was costing me too much money in premium fuel and my lease was ridiculous. I had fun in it; my friends hated me mainly because none of them had anything that could compete. Sounds hard to believe but it’s true, lol. Now that it’s gone it is but a distant memory, and it frees up money in my wallet to dig into my GT. Ha!

Bah! Never hard to believe. Those SS/TC are quick. And i feel like they'd get better MPG than a GTP on premium, but I understand the financial issues. Either way, yes dig into your GT and make it your own! Top swap that mofo lol

It got good MPG don't get me wrong but premium fuel is outrageous these days. Top swapping is in my "To Do List" can't decide on SC (Premium Fuel Conundrum lol) or Performance Heads Only.

What All have you done on your GP?

Me personally just a few appearance stuff, headers, 3.4 pulley, cai, shelf zzp tune, and some magnaflow muffs. Nothing major

    Nice!

I hate to sink too much into it, mainly because it only cost me $2,750. Too much and my mods will cost more than my car did, lol. No big though, I'm ultimately thinking I'll Swap the Stock Heads for performance heads and a stage I performance cam, headers, cat back (Magnaflow Mufflers), and a PMC Tuner. That's just for the power gains I'd like to accomplish. Aesthetics wise I'm thinking 18" wheels, HID kit (Head and Fog), NEW PAINT JOB, the Gold isn't doing it for me. HA!

Don't bother with N/A heads. Not worth the $ and they will not work with the S/C.

I you want power and MPG and 87 octane then here is a list I recommend:

    Open cone Intake
    Plog
2.5" downpipe (If you can find a 3" for cheaper go for it)
    HV3

    Then get a tune.

    Then turbo+built trans.

    Good List.

    Open Cone Intake (Check)
    3" Downpipe (Check)

I fitted my exhaust today. 3" down pipe, High flow cat and a resonator, I deleted the Mufflers. I might upload a sound clip later today.

    Would you recommend Pacesetter headers?

I would not put headers on when you already have a down pipe. The down pipe wont work with the headers and if you are N/A headers make a small gain over Plog + down pipe.

If you are going to topswap in the future, then go headers.

Plog + down pipe for turbo.

...and I would go turbo over topswap if you want 300 or more whp.

you can compliment Ejouie's said mods with a HV3 insert, helps the top end.
ZZPerformance - HV3 High Velocity Intake Insert #ZZ-HV3NST . It helps most with complimentary mods and a tune.

    3.8l N/A POWA! :4'' HAI\L67 HVTB\HV3\ER Rockers\WP underdrive pulley\Headers\cat delete\91 octane overkill incar tune.3.69 gears, Trans go shift kit.

I wouldn't mind going Turbo, my Balt was. They take a little more TLC, it had to spend most of its time in the garage when it wasn't being driven, thanks to Colorado’s spontaneous weather.
Top Swap to SC is what I'm thinking I'll do, I've never had a SC'd car. I had a 04' Impala SS when I first got married but my wife totaled it soon after. I'm glad she was OK, but I'm also glad I wasn't in the car when it happened because anyone in the passenger seat would have been killed. Semi vs. Impala = Semi 1 Impala 0

I’m definitely going to have to order an HV3.
