Whats up guys? I am the proud owner of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Comp G. I have had the car for a few months now and its about to hit 71,000 miles. Completely stock other than a 180 thermostat. Here is a link to some pictures. Please leave feedback!

i was told if you wanted to use a 180 t stat you would need a pcm tune. the car will run fine but when the t stat opens at 180 the fans dont kick on till 196-210. basically this will cause the gauge to go up and down. Otherwise that is a very clean car you should tint the windows.

the 180 t stat hasn't caused me any problems yet. but ill look into the pcm tune thanks for the advice.

Visual Modification plans: Window tint, Ventshade visors for the windows and the sunroof, tail light covers, black out third brake light, rear pontiac fill ins, paint comp g wheels. Also gauge pillar if they make them..

Performance Modification plans: K&N cold air intake, cat back exhaust, headers, pulley, tune & then more...

Unfortunately any mods are going to have to wait until i pay off the car, but it should take less than a year!

The thermostat is fine, you don't "need" a tune, but if you wanted the fans to turn on sooner you would want it because the stock fan settings are still 212 and 226 IIRC. If you already been rocking it for a while, don't even worry about til you start modding further.

Performance Modification plans: K&N cold air intake, cat back exhaust, headers, pulley, tune & then more...
K&N is a waste of money, you can make your own for 60 bucks, there are a few threads on it. Cat-back will only be for sound, no horsepower gain there. Everything else sounds good though. I'm sure with your stay here you'll get everything down, lots of reading and you're set.

Maybe its just me, but I have yet to see a clean looking home made version. Then again its home made so its going to be cheap and ugly.

I like cheap and ugly. I don't open my hood for people to oogle at my motor. If it works and its cheap, I don't care.

Is there a different brand other than K&N i should look into for an air intake? I doubt ill end up making my own but an intake is going to be my first performance mod. First appearance mod will probably be the Pontiac Fill ins on the back bumper just because its so cheap to do. Any other ideas for my car? Does painting the comp g wheels maybe black or deep grey sound like a good idea? Thanks..

that Charlotte meet at the show sounds like itll be a good way to get a NC meet going. Last year they said they had like 15 or something gp's there. It would be nice if we could get 25 plus out there. I know ill be there and we could split hotel costs and share...as long as yall arent homo or anything...
