Finally, noob with a new to me 2003 GP GTP sedan. I signed up here a while ago and have since been through several vehicles, a 2005 Dodge Magnum, 2002 Hyundai Accent GSi, 2010 Jeep Wrangler and a 2012 Ram 1500 ST. Financial circumstances dictated a change to a "cheaper" vehicle and I have always liked the Grand Prixs, a lot. So without further ado, here is my new set of wheels...

Specs are 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, white, loaded including HUD and sunroof and 170000 kms on the clock. She isn't perfect, needing a few trim pieces, HUD controller (?), some paint chip repair. Nothing too serious. With an extra set of factory 16" aluminum rims (same as in the pic) for an out the door price of $3500! Hope I can find a lot of info here.

And for my first noob question, where is the best place to get new PK3 keys? Dealerships are rip off artists around here and I have been quoted almost $200 for one programmed key!

I think that for these cars you can get one off Ebay that fits a Grand Prix and take it to a locksmith and they can program it for you but Im not 100% sure on that. Nice ride btw!

Yea PK3 keys can be bought on eBay. I'm not sure if the gp is like my Cadi, but with the Cadi there is a procedure you can do to program new keys without the dealer

Thanks for responses. Yeah, my gf's parents have a Montana, for replacement keys they got PK3 blanks, had them cut at Walmart and then to program them you put the original key in the ignition and turn to on, then off and take the original out and put the new key in and turn to on. My gf phoned a dealership and they fed her a line that the GTPs are special and don't use the PK3 system or use an updated one, so the procedure for self programming wont work. I call BS on that lol!

Yea a few GM's all you do is insert a programmed key, within 10 seconds pull it out and insert a non programmed key, leave it "on" for 10? minutes, turn it to off for a couple seconds, back on for 10?, off, and back on for 10? again.
That's how the delivery car was at my old work, and that's how my Cadi is.

AFAIK you can program the keys yourself, GM dealer is going to tell you you can't because they want your money.
