    Hello all,

I am looking at picking up a new car and would like a 97-03 v6 grand prix. Now what I would like to know is:

    1) common problems with engines/transmissions
    2) what are options to look for?
    3) what should I stay away from?
    4) Is there anything else I should know be for I start looking

I know what to look for in a used car I am looking for more model specific things to look for. Thanks for the help all.

Here is a thread that would answer a lot of your questions. http://www.grandprixforums.net/97-03...ems-60802.html

Read this thread lots of good info. http://www.grandprixforums.net/safel...car-17482.html

And as E IN v Y said stay away from the SE's and the 97 GT's. You should try to look for a GTP.

I read something about the lower intake manifold gasket. Does that apply to the 3.8? I am looking for a GTP provided it fits my budget.

    Depends on your skill level.

I could do it in a few hours. Some might take a whole day.
