We got the car from my in-laws, my mother-in-law was the original owner. They were about to trade it in and offered it to us, and I jumped on it. I've known the car since day one, it was never abused and always garaged, and yes the fact that it's got all the somewhat unique SE trim but is just a GT and not a GTP is neat (though I wish it was Supercharged!).
I've slowly been going through it and replacing all the normal mileage-related wear and tear items. I had to do the oil pan gasket, which was a PAIN, and also had a power steering leak that I thought was just a hose, then the pump, and it finally turned out to be the rack. Ouch. I also had a vibration on the highway that was mis-diagnosed as bad drive axles and turned out to be a bad tire (DOH!).
The paint on the car is still really pretty, but my mother-in-law tended to be a bit of a tailgater so the front bumper has a lot of tiny rock clips in it, as do the headlights, so I'm planning to have the bumper painted and am going to put headlights in it soon.
Other than that, and the stalling issue I mentioned above, about the only other things on the list are some new struts and shocks in the future...it kind of bangs over bumps (but then again my other drivers are the Roadmaster and Cutlass, and both those are soft...), and finding a good set of radio buttons for the steering wheel, ours are worn.
I love Pontiacs and hope to keep this one on the road for a long time to come.
Take care all!
-Mike
