I've had my GP GT for a few months now and I've been impressed with the performance I've gotten at such low price. I just landed a temp job with a government agency and I'm bringing in some money. Being home from college, I'm not making house payments or paying bills. I'm making enough to support myself, but I don't need to spend the money to do so. I decided to be irresponsible and drop all this cash on my car. I've already got two Flowmaster 40 series in so my car sounds like it can haul ass (pardon the language,) but in all reality it doesn't have the speed I'm looking for. I still have a governer chip in so my top speed is currently a meager 107 mph. I'm looking to get rid of that, put in a performance chip, get a performance transmission, get a performance mid-pipe, performance headers, get a turbo or supercharger (which ever would give the most power,) and anything else you can think of that will make this car very, very fast. I'm not looking to spend thousands upon thousands, but I want to be able to obliterate my friends tuned up RX8 . I'm not sure if that's possible, but I know modding an American built car is easier than that Japanese piece of-- Oops, I'm rambling. Anyway, I'm not savvy with mechanic talk, so be gentle. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Alright well I wouldn't worry about your govner that much you don't need to be doing 107 if you can't trap it. And these cars have a very week 4th that will fall apart if you shift into it at wot. So one of the things to defenitly get Trans wise is a hardened 4th along with many other things.
Turbo will make the most power but your not going to get a good turbo setup for less than 2 grand. You could top swap for around 700 if you did it yourself and shoped around. These cars also can't be chipped you need to get it tuned. To start out what you should do is U-bend delete, or a whole new aftermarket downpipe, Ported exhaust manifolds maybe front Power log. Make yourself an intake. Then you need to decide if you wana top swap or not, if not go with an hv3 and rockers or cam. If you top swap your getting different heads which you could also do rockers on for more power or you could do a cam. That would get you started.

Let me go over all the things that just went over my head....
    "U-bend delete"
"Ported exhaust manifolds maybe front Power log"
    "top swap"
    "v3 and rockers or cam"
And right now I've a got a sub-par Specter short ram air intake. You must know this: I am an infant in the car mod world. My first car was a Saturn Vue...
I know this car has extreme potential, but I need to be walked through it

well it takes money a lot... lol and the top swap would be supercharging it. If you did that you would not do the hv3. If youw went top swap you would want to go with headers over a power log or ported exhaust manifolds. Rockers and cam shaft is a one or the other thing unless you spend more money on the heads for porting and milling etc.

you cant do both the Hv3 and a top swap, you gotta choose weather you wanna make a cammed NA car or top swapped high compression car. If you top swap, headers are a must.

seeling or trading for a gtp might be your best bet because making a gt fast is a lot of money and a lot of work

I agree. or swap a whole L67 engine (supercharged one) into your GT. top swap gets pricey to do it nicely.

also, dont worry about all that ported exhaust manifold, downpipe, u-bend stuff. If you buy a $200 set of headers from ebay it replaces all that.
    '01 GT - Top swapped. ported SC/Heads/TB, SD headers, open cone, HPTuners, 3.4 MPS, 60#'s, E85.______________________SMGPFC #99_______________________
