Yo guys, what's up? Just wanted to post up for some advice on a project my little bro and I are working on. I build Trans Ams, he's always been into Grand Prixs (Prii? Prixes?) so he has this 98 GT 2-door that he has had since high school and is in love with. Well, it is starting to show its age, so he wanting to do some work to it. It has like 175k miles on it, non-supercharged 3.8, auto, all the standard stuff.

We are looking to buy a wrecked GTP, then swapping the taillights (his are delaminating and DESTROYED) and some other little replacement parts that his car needs.

Then we are going to take out the 3.8SC and rebuild it, do some head work, put a new pulley on it, maybe a new camshaft, not sure yet. I need to read up on here more what is a good thing to do.

Then we are going to find a 5-spd swap out of an earlier model and swap it in there. I know there is fabrication and all involved, not a problem. I have about every tool we'll need to do it. I swapped a 6-spd into my 98 TA, so this will be a little more complicated but I know it won't be a big deal.

I'm sure we'll find some other stuff as we get further into it. Not sure when we are starting, but we're looking for parts now.

Picked up the wrecked GTP, it is almost too nice to part out, but it has some other issues that I think makes it worth parting.

Good to see you on here, I'm down in Fayetteville myself. If you part out the GTP, let me know...there are some small parts I am interested in (headlights, small trim pieces). Good luck with the project!

Well, we got the car and it is way too nice to part out. We're going to fix it up for our youngest brother.

    Here is my bro's car:

Here is the "parts car" a 2000 GTP:

thats cuz you cant use that motor in the 97+ car.

thats a series 1 motor, notice the small ass supercharger with the tiny ass pulley.

Yeah, series i motor, can't use it.

I found a complete Series II 3.8SC at a local junkyard for $425 complete. We are going to grab that.

We decided we are going to finish the 2000 GTP first, then move to the red GT.
