Hello, I am currently looking for a 97-2005 gt or gtp. I have a neighbor that bought a 98 gtp which made me want one more. A couple weeks ago I drove a 98 gtp coupe with a 3.6 pulley, intake and the guy said it was tuned. He wants $3500 for it and it has 137k on it. Just wondering if it would be a good deal or if i should talk him down or keep looking for a better deal.

    Welcome.

Where about in MN you at??

Word of advice, never buy a modded car EVER.

and also I'd stay away from the 97's. Find a 98+ car

It's hard to find a un-modded GTP anymore. 3500.00 isn't bad and with a 3.6 it's probably modded correctly. Does that car have any exhaust modifications ?

Welcome. It seems you really aren't too picky with what you get. It's probably safe to say that most members here would not buy a modded gtp that is not being scanned for KR, so keep that in mind in your search.

I am in buffalo. The car did have exhaust and to what extent, that i do not know. It did sound good. The guy said he bought it and the mods were already on it and it was tuned from the previous owner before he bought it. He said he was only getting 17/20 hwy for mileage, could that be right. Now I dont know how he drives it.

17 city and 20 highway is crap mileage.

I know you dont know how he drives it, but thats garbage. I can beat the piss out of mine and get 17 city and 30-32 freeway.

Buy a scan gauge and take that sucker for a spin. If you see some kr back away. The scan gauge will come in handy when you get your own.

welcome, and buying a modded car is always risky. gotta be sure what youre lookin at to make sure it is runing correctly and doesnt have internal or external probs also to include sensors, and being at 137k and being 98, im sure there have been some sensors that have gone bad or are bad which can contribute to the bad gas mileage.

buying a modded car is a shot in the dark honestly, look for a gt with lowish miles, then budget for a topswap and have fun
