I am not sure what you're saying here... GTPs are not V8s. Do you currently have an SE?

GXP? keep your 02. You clearly do not need to upgrade.

    GXP wont handle as nice.

Not that the terms "grand prix" and "handling" should ever be used in the same sentence.

Looks like you have a few things to learn yet. That's not a bad thing really, so don't take it as me being a dick. Before you make a move you should look into all avenues, explore your options. Once you learn a little more about what you're working with, or what you could be working with if you trade, then you'll have a foundation for a good decision.

The question on if it's worth it or not, is a choice only you should make. Do you think it's worth it? It's your car, you decide. You should be able to get all the info you need right here. These guys have a lot of knowledge and experience under there belt, and most are willing to point you in the right direction. Except for silversleigh, he's a worthless troll just like me.

Welcome to gpf, to help us help you, how many miles? What shape is the car is? As slowpoke said you make the call..Personally I would top swap the car. If your looking for more power all that info can be found here http://www.grandprixforums.net/top-s...info-7763.html as for the newer gtps are supercharged six cylinders, and the gxps are eight cylinders, but the aftermarket is awful slim on the gxps imo. But anyway, good luck and have fun

I currently own a 2005 GXP with 61,000 miles and a 2006 GT with 84,000 miles. I am currently considering selling the GXP so i can purchase a GTP or GT that is supercharged. I think the only thing i will miss on the GXP is the tap shift and the sound of a true V8. Will keep the GT as a daily driver. Seems that the GTP just has many more options to make a ton of power if you are willing to spend the time and money.

I'm not following. Your 06 is supercharged, so why are you going to sell your gxp?

If you are referring to my 06 gt, it is not supercharged. Never said it was. Has the n/a 3800. Fine for me as a daily driver being it is almost 100% stock and reliable. Still not positive if selling the GXP but i am considering it.

    06/07 GT's were supercharged....

You probably have a base with a badge on it.

I appologize for the mix up here. I got the years floped on my grand prixs. You are absolutley right that all 06+ GT's were supercharged. Kinda embarassing to not know the years of my own cars and be called out on it. Oh well. 2005 pontiac grand prix gt( not just badged) (have docs.) and 2006 grand prix gxp. Mileage is correct for both models listed above. Just years swaped.

Sorry I meant GXP...Ive been reading up on the top swap and Ive read that you have to evenually have to swap out the transmition.. Is this true? and my car has 104,000 miles so idk if its worth the money or with doin the top swap ill be pretty much replacing most parts to give me all new seals. Also I wanted to know how much this would cost conpaired to just buying a junkyard gtp engine

you'll have to swap out the trans on any model after getting more power out of it. they are our 'weak link' in the system.
