Hey All...
I'm a new guy here and as being pestered to do by the forum software posting a 'I'm a n0ob' message.
I'm here because of my 2005 Grand Prix (base model) which is at 160k now needs love. Historically having an insanely busy life took the car to places like JiffyLube for oil changes and such. Over time I was seeing my car going progressively down the crapper where I got to a point of starting to cross check their work, and when I last pulled away and stopped to check my oil...I was right. They didn't even do the oil change I came and paid for. So at that point I got pissed and came up with a new slogan for them, "Jiffy Lube, systematically destroying cars...one oil change at a time".
I'm a sportbike/trackbike rider and do everything on those so I couldn't come up with an excuse to not do the four wheeled boxes. So I began doing everything on all of our family cars, digging deeper as I go into what hasn't been done as well as trying to figure out what's wrong and how to fix it. Seems like too many times doing the 'walking around a dark room looking for a light switch'...thing.
So back to the GP, it now is in much better overall running shape than I can remember in quite a while. But as the miles show and my experience has been, the more I fix, the more that needs attention. But I keep hacking away hoping somewhere down the road things will be in a normal maintenance rotation, but I'm not holding my breath.
I really like the car, still pretty sound for 160k...just needs more love.
I'll be searching here on a regular basis (looking for that light switch).
Hello everyone!
