Hi. Some of you may know me. I'm Brian, an Admin on BonnevillePro.
I'm looking to buy a 97+ GP GT for the missus in a few months or so. She needs her own car and I want it to be L36 powered. None of the other cars out there are cool enough for her (even the Bonnie) so a GP it is.

Anyways, Bill Boost recommended I join up here to learn about the GP.

First off, requirements for the new car.

L36 powered - if I'm not boosted, she can't be either
    2 door
    No leather
    Console shifter

I assume this will be no problem to find.

Price - cheaper the better - less than $2K on the road

Wondering, did they make a 97-00 GP with a CD player and steering wheel controls. Not a must have, but she would love it.

She previously had a 94 GP SE and loved it, but again I want her in something L36 powered.

    Any thoughts? Any recommendations?

    Anything special to look for?

I heard I need to look for frame rust? Anything else specific to the GP I wouldn't know of?

welcome to teh community.... stay clear of 97's if u do go the N/A route. transmissions are vac modulated and made of cotton and glass. 98+ are fine. steering wheel controls were available on pretty much all GP's... look for leaky intakes mani's. the rust issue is commonly behind rocker panels. depending on what year bonne u have, pretty much all the issues with both cars go hand in hand. good luck finding a good one

    That's what I came here for....knowledge

I'm also trying to find some pics of stock GP GT's in the 98-00 range both inside and out but I'm having a hard time. DO you guys have a gallery, or a sub forum for pics......it's eluding me at the moment

i agree, 98-02 are very parts compatible with each other. for the 97, things like computer, tranny stuff are not compatible with other years.

Ok, so I got a year range nailed down

Now, what colors and wheels were available?

Oh, and it has to have a spoiler. We saw a Silver GP today in this year range and it was what we in the Bonneville community call a "bubble but" and it was awful.

So, can we get a GT with cloth, steering wheel controls and cd, what colors/wheels, any way we would find one with a Bose stereo????
