thought i would read up a little on the car im thinking of buying.

its a 1997 Pontiac GTP: TOG headers, cam, ZZP stage 4 blower, 3.2" pulley, ZZP intake, 3" exhaust Tuned ect ect ect.

says it made 370wtq on the 3.0 pulley that it comes with...

Trusted source. i know the guy and where the car came from. i have drivin it, and i know it gets 25mpg city and 28-30 hwy with the current tune. but thats about the jist of what i do know

please explain why the 97 is a poor choice? i heard the 97's didnt have the HD trans, however i was told that this car appears to have a 98 up transmission.. it also has a huge transmission cooler added..

    thank you

97 had the HD trans if it was a GTP, so youre good there. the problem with 97s is that they are either a freak, or a pile of crap. they run mega strong, or take all those mods to run 10 pounds of boost.

other than that if you know the car was taken well care of then so be it. however, the problem with modded cars is that you no longer have the ability to mod it how you want to and it has a high potential to be damaged in some form already. with those mods, i would worry heavily about the transmission.

i am worried about the trans.. but i was pleased to see the aftermarket cooler in there, means the guy modding it was paying attention.

when i drove it it ran great and shifted fine. and i gaged it a bit too.. seemed ok.

with any used car thats an automatic you have to be worried about the trans.

i also posed the question, if it made 370 ft lbs on the 3.0 pulley, why did he go back to the 3.2 and have it tuned on that? i was told reliability.
if thats the case how much of a change in torque is there from the 3.0 to the 3.2 pulley. was this perhaps a move to save on the transmission?

lots and lots of questions of course.
